Lowman - Robert (Bob) Andrew Friedman 90, of Lowman Idaho passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025. He was surrounded by his blended family weeks before but was cared for to the end by his loving wife of 26 years, Naomi Washam.
Bob was born on May 29, 1935 in Boulder, CO to Robert Ardourel Friedman and Della Marie Minici. He attended Boulder High where he met and married Roberta J Peevler, the mother of his children, Robert Andrew Friedman Jr and Amy Marie O'Neill.
His career path included Standard Oil to follow in his father's footsteps. He enlisted in the US Army as a Sargant where he and Roberta moved to Germany and lived in a tiny apartment above Robert & Katherine Funk in Eschbach. They both learned to speak German and immerse themselves in that culture. During the late 60s" when the hippies were taking over Boulder" (his words) he and Roberta moved to Kalispell, MT with their children where he worked as a Asst. Store Manager at Buttrey's. In 1976 he was transferred to Nampa, Idaho with Buttrey's. In the 80's he then began working at Zilog, where he retired in 1994.
In 1993 he met Naomi and they moved to Lowman in 1995. He loved their home in Lowman as it was far away "from all those damn people." Their home was also a haven for everyone's pets that they could no longer have and they took care of them as their own. In 1999 he married Naomi and her extended family he became "dad" to 4 additional children. He was an engaging Grandpa and Great Grandpa to 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, never forgetting a birthday, wedding, or special event. He took pride in his involvement with his kid's and grandkid's school activities, including field trips, grandparents' day, sports events and of course "Flat Stanley".
Bob had a love of music and old record albums. If it wasn't for Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Elvis, John Denver or Emily Lou Harris...Forget about it. He loved Monty Python, Napoleon Dynamite, Godzilla and any Clint Eastwood Western. He had a love for reading any WWII History Book, as well as his favorite past-time of sitting on the porch and counting cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Judith Ann Lyman and is survived by his wife Naomi, children Andy, Amy (Dan) O'Neill, Cori Smith, Clinton (Jody) Hedges, Curtis Hedges, Cami (Steve) Callan, Grandchildren, Alex (Sarah) Friedman, Corrine Friedman, Jacob Swaitek, Emily (Joe) Mainwaring, Grace (Logan) Slate, Kyle (Hannah) Smith, Corbin Hedges, Cody (Cindy) Hedges, Cole Hedges, Teylir (Andy) Speck, Makenzi Baker, Savannah Callan, Gemmah Callan and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
Bob led the life he wanted and loved deeply. He will forever be remembered in our hearts and in our lives. He truly did it "My Way"
