Parma - Robert "Bob" Gene Troxel, 83, of Parma, passed away on September 21, 2024.
Bob was born September 4, 1941, in
Nampa, Idaho, to Joseph and Geneva Troxel. The family moved to
Parma, Idaho, in 1949. Bob graduated from Parma High School in 1959, and furthered his education in Portland, Oregon, at an automotive trade school. He also attended Boise Junior College (now Boise State University). Bob always loved things that went fast, and a story was told of him racing his 1957 Chevy and a police officer visiting Bob's parents for a discussion. He met Judith "Judy" Lorraine McCurry through a blind date arranged by his cousin, and they were married in Boise, Idaho, on June 1, 1963. They were married for 52 years, until Judy's passing in 2015. They raised their five children in Apple Valley in an old farmhouse that Bob and Judy remodeled along with help from family and friends.
Bob started his career working at Burns Chevrolet in Nyssa, Oregon, and quickly transitioned to working alongside his father in the family business, Troxel's Garage. He brought some new ideas to the business, adding small engine repair, lawnmower sales, and even a Polaris dealership for a few years. Bob was always willing to help anyone in need and had many long-time, loyal customers. He worried about helping those customers even after he was no longer physically able to perform the work. Because Bob always loved things that went fast, he helped friends with their race car in his earlier years, racing at Thunder Ridge and Firebird Raceways, and made many friends through that adventure. He and Judy enjoyed snowmobiling and took many trips to Yellowpine, Yellowstone National Park, Stanley, and the Valley County area with their family and friends. Bob enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Donnelly and used a CB radio to communicate across Cascade Lake with his friends in the area. His CB handle was "Snowbird". Bob loved telling jokes (some of them were even funny), and he had an amazing memory to recall those jokes. He felt that one of his greatest accomplishments was attaining his private pilot's license and he made many friends through the Ontario E.A.A. chapter. Many of those friendships remained even after it was not safe for Bob or his friends to be up in the air anymore. Bob was always involved in the Parma community and enjoyed his time with the Parma Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, and supporting various community events and fundraisers. He spent many years participating in the Old Fort Boise Days Parade either representing his business or driving his 1962 Chevrolet Impala in the parade. Bob was a recipient of the Bruce Mitchell award and a 50-year member of the Parma Lions Club.
Bob is survived by his five children, Robert (Rhonda LaPierre) of Parma, Neil (Cyndi) of Parma, Joseph "Joe" (Teresa) of Homedale, Ann (Scott) Jacops of Parma, and Lynn (Julie) of Parma. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, and his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, 10:30 a.m., at the Parma Cemetery, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. A reception will follow at the Parma Senior Center.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parma S.O.S. Scholarship Fund or the

Bob's family would like to thank the Parma Living Center for their care, compassion, and support.
Fly high, Sky King. You will be missed.
