Simon Lujan Obituary

Simon Fabian (Big Dog) Lujan, 71, passed away at his home in Nampa, surrounded by his loved ones, on Aug. 30, 2010. Simon was recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gerhrigs Disease) and fought a courageous fight until the end. He was a very godly man and loved everyone around him.
Simon was born July 3, 1939, in Del Norte, Colo., to Robert and Ina Armenta Lujan. He had several brothers and sisters that he loved and talked about frequently throughout his entire life.
Simon lived in various states throughout his life and always talked about wanting to return to Idaho and retire. Simon did in fact return to Idaho 3 1/2 years ago but retirement was not in his vocabulary. He worked every day except Sundays as a diesel mechanic, with his grandson Donald, until he became very ill in June 2010. He always said he would work 'til he was 100.
Simon was not able to complete his formal education because he worked from a very young age in order to help his family.
Simon's work history consisted of farming, ranching, Redi-Mix driver, baker and mechanic.
He was known to many for his hard work ethic and was one who never gave up.
He rarely was discouraged and believed strongly in prayer. Simon was often found reading his Bible and when he talked to people who were struggling he would first love them and then remind them "God never promised us a rose garden".
Simon had eight children, and was married twice, both of which ended in divorce.
After coming to Idaho, Simon became involved with his "sweetheart" Bev, whom he dated for the last 14 months of his life and who was by his side with his family at the time of his passing.
Simon is survived by his children: Scott Lujan, Mark (Gina) Lujan, Paula Marcotte, Candy Miller, Richard (Cherie) Lujan, Troy Lujan and Thomas Strom; his grandchildren: Brandi Lujan, Kami (Rudy) Harney, Memori Lujan, Tylar (Angie) Bell, Cody Lujan, Tera (Donald) Curry, Buddy Russell, Joshua (Nakina) Lujan, Tiffany (Brandon) Josi, Kassi Russell, Ashley (Tony) Lowe, Ricky Lujan, Teah Marcotte, Zachary Lujan, Justin Strom, Lucas Lujan, Shelby Strom, Charles Lujan, Xara Strom, Yasmine Strom, and Caitlin Lujan and 17 great-grandchildren.
Simon is also survived by four brothers: Benny, Mielo, Rob and Art, five sisters: Loretta, Sarah, Tessy, Bert and Geri.
Simon was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one daughter.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3, at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd. Nampa. (467-7300).
Special thanks to The Rock family and Treasure Valley Hospice for all the love and support they have given Simon and family.
"We will never walk alone." - Simon Fabian Lujan
