I played for Coach Conley during his last year of coaching. It was a unique season for me as an individual. At 68 years of age, I can now look back on that season and more fully appreciate all that I learned from Coach Conley. I have never been around a smarter individual. He knew exactly how to handle each of the players on the team. And he did it individually. There is a picture in the yearbook from 1970 of him holding onto my jersey as he talks yo me. That was a regular habit of coach. Because I have a large personal bubble, you can see me pulling away as he holds onto my jersey. I laugh whenever I see that picture. One thing I learned from coach that year was how to go out and play determined. I once told him that I played better when I was mad, he responded, “no you played better when you are determined!“ He smartly would say comments to me that would make me say to myself just wait until I get back in that game and I will show you. I learned a lot from that man.To his family ISEE, I am sorry for your loss.

Terry was a good person who cared about students and staff. Had the pleasure of knowing him and working with occasionally in my role as Assistant and Associate Principal at Smoky Hill High School. He left a positive legacy in both Jefferson County and Cherry Creek School Districts.

Mr. Conley was my Principal at Chatfield Senior High. He was the first principal at our school and I was in the first graduating class. Mr. Conley was a great educator and a great man. He cared about us and wanted to make sure we all succeeded.
