Tom Holloway Obituary

After many years of battling blindness and brain tumors, Tom Holloway has finally heard the words he has been longing to hear. "Well done thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:21.
He passed away Friday, February 2, 2007, at his home. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2007, from 5 to 7 p.m. and the funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. South, Nampa, 466-3545. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa. Condolences and memories can be sent to the funeral chapel Web site at www.alsipfuneralchapel.com
Tom was born in Colfax, WA, to Thomas and Maie (Carter) Holloway on June 9, 1942. He was raised on a farm in the Valley, WA, area and remained there until he came to Nampa to attend NNC. He graduated from NNC in 1966 with a degree in theology. Not feeling a call to preach he chose instead to preach silently by his everyday walk.
In 1968, he met the love of his life and they married the following year. Due to blindness he was forced to work odd jobs but he always had a heart to work. Many have said that he was the hardest-working person they have ever known and that long after everyone else had gone home, Tom was still there working faithfully and diligently.
Two of his favorite places of employment were: Allied Van Lines, where he helped pack and move, and operating T & C's Eatery in the Bureau of Land Management Building. He was employed there until 1990 when he was forced to retire due to failing health. He was a charter member of Grace Bible Church of Nampa.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte of Nampa; his children Melody Finn-Kinswa (Dave) of Nampa, Michelle Helfrich of McCall and Markus (Johanna) Holloway of Nampa; and 9 grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Savannah, Maebry, Matthew, Johnnessa, Evan, Clayton and Kaleesa. "Papa we are so glad that you are in Heaven with Jesus, we love and miss you."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Maie Holloway and his brother Dan Holloway.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Heart and Home Hospice of Payette for their exceptional care. All the little extras made a "huge difference" and helped to brighten and bring dignity to his last days. Pat, Brenda, Ryan, Theresa, Minda, thank you so much, you were wonderful. Memorials can be made to Heart and Home Hospice's indigent fund to assist those who cannot afford the comfort and care of a hospice agency. Heart and Home Foundation 1401 N. Whitley Dr., Suite 16 Fruitland, ID 83619.

February 6, 2007

Charlotte, Melody, Michelle, Markus and families,
Tom's obituary was very nice. It described him so to a t!
He was such a neat guy; always so friendly.
I have such fun memories of hanging out at the Holloway's, and of the mischievous/comical side of your dad.
Duane and I are praying for all of you. We know you will miss him-we will too.
Love,
Duane & Sheila Taylor
