Alex Hudson Obituary
CLEVELAND - Alex Hudson of Preston, Idaho, left this world peacefully at home early in the evening of October 20, surrounded by those he loved. Alex's struggle with cancer was fought with the same strength, energy, and vigor with which he lived his life.
A loving husband to Cari and strong father to Ben, Charles, and Chris, Alex's family settled into their beautiful farm overlooking the Bear River north of Preston. Cari and Alex met at the University of Idaho in Moscow and were married in 1972. Before making Idaho their home, Alex served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
As a professional engineer and surveyor with a career spanning 35 years, three states and six Idaho counties, Alex gained the respect of his community and profession, dedicated to the precision and quality that engineering demands. Alex was the founder and owner of A.A. Hudson and Associates in Soda Springs and Preston, Idaho since 1982, and recently became a certified federal surveyor.
Alex cherished nature and all the diversity it gives us; as an avid hiker, he knew how to respect and enjoy it.
Alex leaves his wife, Cari, sons, Ben, of Tempe, Ariz., Charles of Fulton, Mo., Chris of Pocatello, Idaho. Alex was one eight siblings and is survived by his father, Allan Hudson, of Carmel, Calif.; brothers, Mike Hudson of Mountain View, Calif., Peter Hudson, of Sausalito, Calif., and Patrick Hudson of Woodbine, Md.; and sisters, Peggy Hudson of San Diego, Calif., Rhaea Mureal of Boston, Mass., Sarah Adams of Carmel, Calif., and Martha Sakakura, of Stockton, Calif.
Memorial services will be held Friday, October 24, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the Williams Ward Church in Niter, Idaho. A viewing will be held at the South Stake Center, 55 East First South, in Preston from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008, and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church in Niter. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com
