Calvert Stanger Obituary

Calvert Lee Stanger 77 died on December 2, 2021. He was born the youngest of nine children October 30, 1944 to Grant Calvert and Leah Virginia Stanger of Inkom, Idaho. Calvert will be missed by those friends and relatives who truly cared for him. He was preceded in death by his parents and six of his eight brothers: Thomas H., Lynn D., Enoch Frederick, Grant Edward (infant), Alvin Noel and Alfred Neil , leaving his brother Virgil (Linnly) and sister Jennie L. (Gene) Winter behind. He is survived by his son Jonathon of Freeport Ill., and Jon's daughters Kaitlin Rose and Leah as well as another son , several daughters and a number of children and great grandchildren(whose names are unavailable); nieces, nephews, many cousins and his dear friends and long time care givers Rachel Taylor and Derrick.

In recalling some of the times with Cal Rachel said that she loved to have him sing to her. Singing and listening to music was one of Cal's greatest pleasures.

Calvert grew up in Inkom, Idaho and attended the Inkom k-12 school. Cal made his living fixing cars and after retirement spent most of his time as a backyard mechanic. He attended the University of British Columbia and was fond of saying that he received his higher education in the school of hard knocks. After suffering his last illness - one of many he dealt with over his lifetime- Calvert at last graduated from that school. He sought God's forgiveness and peace at the end of his life. May God rest his soul.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service with interment of his ashes is planned for April 23, 2022.
