Carol Ostberg Obituary

Carol A. Ostberg, 83, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.

Carol was born December 31, 1940 in Rigby, Idaho, the daughter of William Milton Jex and Anna Ruth Cook.

As a young child, her parents owned an operated Jex Market in Chubbuck. Other than kindergarten, which she attended in Rigby as her father fought in the war, she attended her first years of school in Tyhee. She also attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1959. In 1980 Carol began taking night classes at Idaho State University, working toward a degree in accounting.

On March 19, 1967, Carol married Verdus Ostberg in Blackfoot.

Carol was a member of Calvary Chapel of Blackfoot. She had a love for her Lord and worked on pursuing a relationship with him and following him.

She joined Timeless Treasures Doll Club with Aunt Renay and her mother Ann in the early 1990s.

She worked at Sunspiced for 18 years and Basic American Foods for five years before trying out retirement. Retirement lasted less than 6 months before she took a job at Bingham Memorial Hospital in the IT department for eight years, then began working as a secretary for her church. She also did taxes for H&R Block.

Carol loved to crochet and has made numerous Afghans that she made for her loved ones along with several other items. We used to tease her that she was a "happy hooker" with her crochet hook in hand.

She is survived by her husband, Verdus Ostberg; children, Mindy (Patrick) Saunders, Verdus Jr. (Bobbi) Ostberg of Blackfoot and Vicky (Steven) Berggren of Blackfoot; daughter-in-law Gina Daun of Syracuse UT; Tom (Teresa) Ostberg and Rex (Pam) Ostberg; her siblings Michael (Kathy) Jex of Springville UT and Debbie (Bart) Van Orden of Layton UT; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Jex; and her son, Tony Daun.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Calvary Chapel, 689 S. Fisher Avenue in Blackfoot, under direction of the Hawker Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at the church for one hour prior to the service.

I am sadden to know Carol had passed. We just found out today April 1st. I just seen her and talked with her. It was so good to see her and Vicky at my Mother's funeral just recently.
It is hard when we lose our loved ones.
Carol was always happy from the early days up to this point when I last seen her.
Now she is with her parents and her son.

Carol was my oldest cousin on my mom's side of the family. I have fond memories of activities we shared when I was young like riding bareback behind her on grandpa's horse, riding with her and uncle Ivan in his new car, or the Christmas family gatherings at grandpa and grandma Cook's home. Carol was full of life and fun to be around. I was fortunate to see her a little over a month before she passed at my mom's funeral. She will be missed and my condolences to her family.

Vicky and Steven I’m so sorry for your loss!! No words can really compensate for your loss but know that I am sending you hugs and prayers of love and comfort. I know that we are still very close after death and many is the time I have felt my parents beside me.
