Cheryl Simper Obituary

Cheryl Simper, of Blackfoot Idaho, passed away January 26, 2024 in Pocatello Idaho surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryl was born April 25, 1952 in Ogden Utah to Jesse and LaVelle Combe. Cheryl grew up in Uintah and West Warren, Utah, and graduated from Bonneville High School in Ogden. During her time in school, she participated in many equestrian activities and was also president of her seminary class her senior year of high school.

On November 15, 1974 she married the love of her life, Rick Simper. Their marriage was later further solemnized in the Ogden, Utah temple on February 7, 1976.

Cheryl was a book keeper for various different individuals and business, including the Snake River Community Library, and Snake River Livestock. She spent time behind the wheel of a truck driving for Snake River Livestock and Mike Driscoll Farms during harvest but her love was being on horseback or in her flower garden

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings including primary and young women's president, primary pianist, ward organist for 20 years, plus several other callings. Cheryl was very well known for her incredible talent at the organ. She served with her husband as baptistry coordinators in the Idaho Falls Temple for 5 years and later served in the Pocatello Temple after it was opened.

Cheryl was also involved in various organizations including the Women's Professional Rodeo Association, Golden Valley Girls Rodeo Association, and Bannock Co. Rodeo Association. She excelled in barrel racing and had won many awards through the years for doing so.

In her free time, Cheryl loved crocheting and cross stitch, yard work and gardening, and caring for her animals. She was a protective care taker of all of her animals as each of her goats and calves had a name.

Cheryl is survived by her Husband, Rick; daughters, Amber (Michael) Anderton of Riverside; Libbie RaNae (Chase) McBurney of Moreland; 10 grandchildren; Payson Anderton, Shylo Anderton, Kaiser Anderton, Ryder McBurney, Elder Dylan Anderton, Koye Calzada, Ridge McBurney, Koryne Anderton, Imree Calzada, River McBurney and sister Chris (Steve) Chournos of Tremonton, Utah.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center with Bishop Darrec Williams of the Snake River 1st Ward conducting.

A viewing will be held on Thursday evening February 1 from 6-8 p.m at Hawker Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the services on Friday.

Interment will be taken place at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery.

Cheryl & my late husband, Marv Pebley, were founding members of the Jr Posse in Uintah, Utah. The remained friends. As a youth in Cheryl's neighborhood I always looked up to her for her kindness in accepting the new girl in town.
