Colin Whitehead

Colin "Whitey" Whitehead, 73, passed away on February 27, 2015 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Colin A. Whitehead was born January 26, 1942 to Katie and Paul Whitehead in Gooding, Idaho. He graduated from Butte High School in Arco, Idaho in 1960. Following gradution he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He later attended Pipe Fitting School in Blackfoot, Idaho and became and active member of the Local Pipe Fitters Union #648.
On December 5, 1969 he married his sweetheart, Lela Ann Miller. They had four children; Bettina (Mike) Blattner, Arco, ID, Evette Whitehead, Fort Hall, ID, Ace (Lesley) Whitehead, Arco, ID and Jose (Mike) Coleman of Leslie, ID.
Colin loved to stay active and was still woking as a pipe fitter at the time of his death. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and spending time camping with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren whether it was volunteering as a coach for their sports teams, watching them play, or just spending quality time with them.
Surviving is his wife, Lelah Whitehead, four children, a sister, Margorie (Tino) Savala, 15 grandchildren, three honorary grandchildren, (Stana, Misty and Sunie Miller), numerous nieces and nephews and many "self adopted grandchildren". He was preceded in death by his parents.
Colin touched the lives of many people with his smile and wonderful sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
Friends and family are invited to attended a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Butte County High School Gymnasium. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests you bring a food dish to a potluck dinner that will be held after the funeral to celebrate Colin's life. Services are under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home of Arco, ID.

I was sad to hear of Whitey's passing. What a great fitter to have worked around over the years at the INL site. His laugh always brightened the jobsite, and he was a talented welder. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know him. Condolences to his family and friends.
