Dean R. McFarlane

1936 - 2025

Lake Mills, WI - Dean R. McFarlane, 89, Lake Mills, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 3, 1936, in Lodi, WI, the son of the late Raymond and Sylvia (Cutsforth) McFarlane.

In 1954 he graduated from Lake Mills High School.

On October 13, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Hosey, at the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.

Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Hamlin, Inc.

Dean was a member of the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and had volunteered with Builders for Christ helping construct six churches and parsonages throughout the U.S.

He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and was an avid sports fan. He liked watching baseball, basketball and football, especially attending high school games with his great grandson Johnathan. Dean also loved to attend events his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated in.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 69 years, Janice; their children, David (Diane) McFarlane, Gail McFarlane, Bryan (Renee) McFarlane; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold McFarlane, Ken (Marilyn) McFarlane; other relatives and friends.

Also preceded in death by his three sisters, Alice (Harlow) Kuhl, Grace (Arnold "Barney") Fosso, and Phyllis Kiepert.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church until the time of service.

Burial will be in Rock Lake Cemetery.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the church or Rainbow Hospice.
