Don Bybee Obituary

Don LeRoy Bybee
SALT LAKE CITY - Don LeRoy Bybee, 75, beloved father, grandpa, brother, and friend, died July 12, 2007, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Yellowstone National Park, where he was working for the summer at Old Faithful.
He was born June 26, 1932, to Orson Sirren Bybee and Faunda G. Romero Bybee in Pinchgut, Idaho, and raised in Soda Springs, Idaho; he graduated from Utah State University in agronomy, served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean war as a First Lieutenant, 507th Bomber Wing, and graduated from the University of Utah Law School.
He worked as assistant attorney general for the State of Utah and assistant city prosecutor for Salt Lake City before practicing law in private practice until his retirement.
Don served his church in the Scouting program, as a ward missionary, and as a guide on Temple Square.
Don was an outdoorsman who loved boating, fly fishing, family reunions, music, reading, the arts and cowboy poetry, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.
He worked hard, was dedicated to his family - immediate and extended, and he spent every possible moment with his grandchildren. Don is remembered by all who knew him as one who spent his entire life selflessly helping and serving others.
Don passed from this life too soon at a quiet bend in the Firehole River near where he loved to fish.
He is survived by sons, David (Martha) Bybee, Thomas (Rita) Bybee, Joseph Bybee, and Susan (David) Selim; brothers, Sirren (Barbara) Bybee, Andrew (Patsy) Bybee; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Funeral services will held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel, 281 East Hooper Avenue, in Soda Springs, Idaho. Family will meet with friends Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, with military graveside services.
Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.

Dear David, Martha, Susan and all the Bybees and Bangerters,
Rachael and I are so very sorry for your loss. Rachael cried and cried when she heard the sad news. Every time she's sick she still says she wants ginger ale like Grandpa Don gave her. We both always appreciated the kindness that you and all your family showed us, and we wish you comfort in this difficult time.

Dear David,Tom,Joe,and Susan,

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. I have such fond memories of your Dad. I remember when he and your Mom were dating (when I was only 8). He would pick me up my "ears",(his hands on my ears and my hands holding on to his arms). It took me a long time to figure that one out!

Wish I could be there to hug each one of you and tell you how I love you and how sorry I'm about his passing.

Please take comfort in your knowledge of how much he loved each of you. May Heavenly Father's love and blessings be with you during this time.

Love,

Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Bob

We just wanted to wish all of the Bybees comfort in this time of sorrow for Don. We have such fond memories of him as he came down to visit so often and was such a good grandpa to his grandkids here, Kevin, Tiana, and Angela. Tom, Don's son, Rita, and the 3 kids will sorely miss his fun and giving spirit. We want to wish our heartfelt condolences to the rest of the Bybee family. We believe Heavenly Father called him home to rest and that he is happy and content and busy visiting and catching up, albeit too soon for us here to see him go. Please take care in your time of sorrow.

Dear Uncle Don,

May God be with your family in their time of sorrow and may God be with them as you are with God. I ask that God hold your loved ones close to his heart so that you all meet again in God's time and in God's Heaven. I never knew you well, but I remember you. With all my love.

Dear Bybee Family:

Don was a dear friend of my father's, and to all of the Wagstaff Family. He was a great attorney and provided valuable service to countless people. The last time I saw him was in 2005. We were downtown Salt Lake and after catching up on how everyone was doing, he busted out in an awesome rendition of original cowboy poetry.
I hope he, and my twin brother Dale, and my Dad Don, will all jump on their motorcycles and take a spin around Heaven's streets.

Bless you,

With warm regards,
