Edward Rice Obituary

CLIFTON - Edward S. "Ted" Rice, 93, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend took his final walk on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the age of 93.  He was born on June 3, 1917, in Farmington, Utah, to Ira Quince and Myra Winegar Rice.
His were a farmer's hands, ever-working and always serving. Whipstrong and smart. Honest in every dealing.
He was glad he had daughters instead of sons because "Boys just go to football practice and work on junky cars all the time. Girls work!"
Dad and Mom worked the farm side by side and were a great example to us all on the value of hard work.  Mom and Dad loved to travel. The day they sold the milk cows, they drove out of the yard at milking time. After that they decided to leave no back road untraveled, many times on their bicycles. One summer while in their 70s they put over a 1000 miles on their bicycles.  We will miss him dearly but are full of gratitude for the life he lived, the example he was for so many and for the wonderful memories he left for each person whose life he touched.
Ted is survived by his wife, Helen, four daughters, Pauline, Lorraine, Kay and Betty, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two wonderful sisters, LaMar Bingham and Jane Wood. Anyone wishing to share memories of Ted are invited to the Moyle Center in Clifton on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, from 1 to 3 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho.

Helen, I was so sorry to hear about Ted's passing. He was such a nice man. I will always remeber him waving at me from the seat of his old tractor as he passed. I still think of the two of you when I pass through Clifton. May you be comforted and feel the love of friends and family. Take care.

When I heard of Ted's passing I was so very sad. As I type this now my eyes are tearful. Ted has always been dear to my heart. He was a such a good man, a sweet wonderful genuine person, and a great neighbor and friend. It was always so enjoyable to visit with him, hang out awhile, eat a little fudge (of which Helen would NEVER tell the secret recipe and to this day I'm a little ticked about that cause it was SO good lol!! There's always been a place in my heart for Ted. And over the years I have even talked about him to people. I was so thrilled to see him & talk to him a little bit at dad's funeral. I respect him alot and love him dearly, as I do Helen. I have sweet memories of Ted's friendship and I'll cherish them forever. Love always,

So sorry to see a truly Christian pass away. We loved him so much, he was the best friend and neighbor ever. I'll always remember him stirring fudge for Helen for Halloween night. I'll also always remember how much he loved our collie "Chris" she was always at his house!! Love to you Helen, faithful visiting teaching companion, friend and neighbor. The kids send their love, too, Kari, Mindy, Jeremy, Janalee, Charlie and Danielle. So sorry we missed the event at the Moyle center, we were out of town. Love always, Rod and Karen Peterson and family.

I am sad because I don't think he realized how much he was respected and loved by so many. I am so blessed to be his daughter. He was truly a classy guy. It will be hard not seeing him. Thank goodness for memories. I love you so much Dad.

I'll miss knowing you are always there. After a relationship that lasted more than 68 years, there is a huge void in my heart. I will always treasure the love and letters I received from MY DAD. I love you. Pauline

Love you, Dad!

November 26, 2010

I knew he liked me because he never hanged me on a nail by my belt on the tree to keep me quiet during his 2:00 nap time like he did my younger brother Tommy. I loved my visits with him in his later years when I went to see Mom. He had me sit so the light from the window made it easier for him to read my lips (I didn't talk loudly enough). What a marvelous friend!
