Howard Curzon Obituary

Howard Everett Curzon, 92, passed away on June 16, 2021, in Boise, Idaho.

Everett was born on November 14, 1928, in Onyx, Idaho to Robert Howard and Eva Lucille (Lish) Curzon. He was the second of eight children. He attended schools in Onyx and Inkom graduating from Inkom High School in 1946.

On June 22, 1947, he married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Chandler, in Pocatello. The two of them built their first home on Rapid Creek in Inkom. They lived there for 11 years then moved to Pocatello. In 1958 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they raised their two children, Cheryl, and Michael, and were married for 21 years until her passing in 1968. Everett met and married Mary Munger in 1969 adding two stepdaughters, Peggy, and Jody, to the family. They celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Over the years, Everett did various jobs including farming, driving milk truck, and then retiring in 1992 as Plant Manager after 45 years with the Ashgrove Cement Company (originally Idaho Portland Cement Company) He started at the cement plant in 1947 as a mill worker. His career with the cement plant included positions such as assistant chief chemist, plant engineer, office manager and plant manager. In retirement, he used his engineering, wood working and general building skills to do handyman work around Pocatello. He thoroughly enjoyed this time of his retirement.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Everett loved to keep busy and enjoyed building things with his hands, woodworking, jewelry making and being outdoors: hunting, fishing, skiing, and family camping. He was a volunteer and served on boards of directors for various credit unions and banks (President of Idaho Central Credit Union from 1964-1979), on the board and as a Pocatello Chief of the Pocatello Chamber of Commerce (President from 1977-1981), the Red Cross and the Pocatello Rotary Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Albert) Karnowski of Boise; son, Michael Curzon of West Valley City; stepdaughter, Jody (Dennis) Tanner of Flagstaff; 9 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; two brothers, David, and Leland; and one sister, Sylvia Hess.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; wife, Mary; stepdaughter, Peggy Pratt; and three sisters, Madeline Whitaker, Erma Herzinger, and Ruby Leffler.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 6-8 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Avenue Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Gibson Jack Ward Chapel, 8200 W. Portneuf Road, Pocatello, with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Inkom Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Howard Everett Curzon.
