Lonnie Bowman Obituary

With a spirit as vast as the Idaho sky he was born under, Lonnie "Butch" Bowman lived a life of adventure, compassion, and loyalty. Born in Pocatello, Idaho on April 17, 1947, Lonnie was a man with a generous soul, a heart full of love, and a zest for life. Butch, as he was affectionately known, lived a life that was as captivating as the fish tales he would recount from his numerous fishing expeditions. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by the love he had for his family, cherishing every moment spent with them.

Lonnie spent his career as the 'Junk Yard Dog' at Pacific Recycling in Pocatello, ID, from where he eventually retired. Never one to sit idle, he filled his retirement years with his passions - fishing, fly tying, hunting and gardening. His life was a testament to the words of John Muir, "The mountains are calling, and I must go." Butch's adventurous spirit led him from his birthplace in Pocatello to Post Falls, American Falls, St. Helens, Oregon, and finally to his residence in Conway, Arkansas.

Lonnie leaves behind an enduring legacy in his four loving children: Stacey (Darrell) Keller, Jenn Bowman, Deanna (Curtis) Barry, Mel (Sandra) Bowman; along with nine beloved grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He now joins in eternal rest his parents, Lucille Andrew and Evan Bowman, his loving wife, Rosalie Bowman, and his siblings, Gerald Bowman, Darla Baker, Dolly Lloyd, Marlene Lloyd, and Randee Bowman.

As we remember Lonnie and celebrate his life, we are reminded of a quote by Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Lonnie Bowman was a man who made everyone feel special. Please share your memories and upload photos to his memorial page. No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a memorial service is scheduled.

He was a free spirit, and our office has a number of stories about his adventures. The many Saturday mornings we spent getting him food, oxygen or a number of other things still make me smile. The memories will be forever cherished. He called me from his hospital bed after moving to Arkansas and I always wondered how things went for him after that. RIP, and thank you for sharing this.
