Margaret Jensen Hansen
BOISE - Margaret Jensen Hansen was born in Midvale, Utah, January 13, 1922. She was taught at home by her mom, who was a teacher and therefore started first grade at the age of 5. She attended Burley High School.
She met her husband, Gene Hansen, while serving as his secretary in Burley at the Farmers Home Administration. After a brief courtship they were engaged
Christmas Eve, married Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1942. They left for the Army the next day. They were stationed at Fort Robison, Nebraska, where two years later Bruce Gene Hansen arrived.
After leaving the Army, they returned to Idaho and lived in many places. Their daughter, Dana, was born in St. Anthony, Idaho in 1952.
Margaret went back to work in 1962, and became the first woman to become an executive at Garrett Freightlines. She was a claims investigator. After retiring, she moved to Boise to be near her daughter.
She belonged to Sojourners and various bridge clubs. She also volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital. Her passion was bridge. She also loved to dance and to read.
Her grandchild, Kate, and her great-granddaughters, Grace and Reese, always
brought a sparkle to her eyes and a smile to her face.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Dana (Mick) Divin; her siblings, Glen
Jensen, Marilyn (Dale) Whipple; and her grandchildren, Kate (Jeff) Aschenbrenner as well as Eric, Tess, Hans and Heidi; and sister-in-law, Joan Ingram; also numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, and son, Bruce.
A viewing was held Monday, September 24, 2007, at Summers Funeral Home,
Ustick Chapel. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 26 at 10 a.m. at Restlawn cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
