Orson Rawson Obituary

Orson Harry Rawson
Sunday evening, September 23, 2018, Orson Harry Rawson passed away at his home in Pocatello, Idaho. He was born August 5, 1932, in Plano, Idaho to Joseph Harry and Pauline Alberta Myane Rawson.
He grew up a farm boy and attended school in the Plano, Edmonds, and St Anthony area. He always spoke with fond memories of herding sheep high up in the Tetons during those early years. After high school he served 4 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. After his return, he met Janice Lee Smuin in Spencer Idaho and they were married February 3, 1957.
In those days he was working as a heavy equipment operator for Clark County in Dubois, where 2 children were born to them, Glenn in 1958 and Lisa in 1961. Not long after, Orson took his family and moved to Lemhi, Idaho where he managed a large cattle operation on Hayden Creek. Orson loved the mountains and cowboying. Ranch life suited him and his family. To this day his entire family looks back on those days as some of the best of their lives. Orson was perhaps that man born a century after his time. He was as tough and resourceful as any old cowboy in the old West. He worked horses until advancing age forced him to give it up. In 1980, Orson and Janice moved to Pocatello where he lived out the balance of his days in a quiet and peaceful existence.
Orson is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice; their two children, Glenn and Lisa; 8 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and all of his siblings. He was the last one left and ready to join them.
He will always be remembered as a man who worked hard for his family, frank, honest and straightforward. He will be missed. The last words he left for his family and friends were "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," and so is our hope.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11 am at the LDS church, 2271 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83201 (4th and Fredregill Rd.) with a viewing for one hour prior.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
Condolences may be made at www.colonial-funeralhome.com 208-233-1500.

I miss you so so much Orson. Sorry I stopped coming around the past few years to see both you and Jan. You guys have been in my life and the greatest of friends since I was a little girl. I love you and think about you a lot. I went and visited your wife and we had a lovely convo. I am hoping to see her again soon. Look over her for us all. She needs you and misses you tremendously. Love you Orson.
