Steven Ferro Obituary

Steven Eugene Ferro
POCATELLO - Steven Eugene Ferro, 55, of Pocatello, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at a local hospital.
Steve was born the second of three children to Eugene D. Ferro and Donna J. Edgley Ferro March 24, 1955 in Pocatello, Idaho.  Steve attended Lewis and Clark Elementary, Alameda Junior High and Pocatello High School graduating in the class of 1973.  He loved sports and excelled in football, baseball, track and skiing. Although he played hard, he worked hard too, maintaining a job anywhere he could to earn extra spending money.
He was an outdoor enthusiast and at age 16 he bought a Jeep, which took him everywhere he wanted to go. Integrity and honest hard work was important to him as he started a career as a plumber and pipe fitter by age 18. Steven spent his entire life as a pipe fitter with the local #648, a union in which he was very proud of.  He worked his way to the top of Atlas Mechanical and later, Intermech.  He was an excellent boss and his co-workers and employees loved him.
He met Patricia Watt in Boise and they were married October 8, 1985 in Last Chance, Idaho. Together, they had two beautiful children Bo and Brook.  In the months preceding his death his wife he loved so much along with his children will have the Ferro family sealed for eternity together.
As great as a worker as he was, he was an even better husband, father, son, brother, uncle and family man.  He loved and cared for his dear wife, Patricia (the true love of his life) and never missed a ball game of either Bo or Brook.  He had a contagious smile and a great sense of humor.  He always cared about the welfare of his parents. Everyone who knew Steve knew he was a man of great character and integrity.
Steve was a great builder.  He built his log home piece by piece as well as a home for his parents in Island Park.  He loved hunting, fishing, pets, The Denver Broncos, and especially Brook's softball and Bo's baseball games.  He loved long drives on country back roads and telling stories about western history.  He loved the majesty of nature.  Anytime he wanted inspiration, he would go to a mountain-top to pray.
Steve is survived by his wife, Patricia Ferro, son Bo Ferro, daughter Brook Ferro, Parents Eugene and Donna Ferro all of Pocatello, parents in law, John and Betty Holcomb, Lake Havasu, Az., sister, Bette (Brian) Doyle, Star, Idaho, brother, Scott (Sabrina) Ferro, Tyhee, Idaho, also numerous nieces and nephews who looked up to him.  He is preceded in death by his nephew, Joey Mac Selders, son of Bette Doyle and Curt Selders, and his beloved grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Gibson Jack Ward, Portneuf Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held from 6 -8 PM Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S.4thAvenue, Pocatello, 208-233-1500, and from 11:00 to 11:45 AM at the church prior to the services. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.colonial-funeralhome.com.
