Troy Carlson Obituary

Troy I. Carlson
June 16, 1966 - January 4, 2015
Troy I. Carlson passed away on January 4, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho June 16, 1966 to Sandra L. and Ronald I. Carlson. He had one son, Troy Chance Carlson, the "apple of his eye." They were very close and did everything together. Chance being a quick learner, Troy taught him everything he could. He married Chalyce Wolfly. They divorced.
Troy attended Hawthorne Jr High, Pocatelllo High School, and Highland High School. He graduated from Idaho State University Vo-Tech In Welding. He was Wreckmaster Certified Level 4-5.
He most recently drove "Big Rigs" in the oil fields in Wyoming. He loved to drive those big trucks hauling sand and water. His favorite color was blue and he always drove a new blue sleeper. He worked for Old West (NBI) Justice Trucking, and McKimm Trucking in Rock Springs, WY. He was self-taught in many areas and could do most anything he set his mind to. He even earned his Class A CDL himself. His first trucking job was hauling potatoes for WADA Farms. In the middle of winter on solid ice, he drove the truck down Lewisville Highway sideways never hitting pedestrians or vehicles. We always smiled. The police complimented him on his driving. He worked many jobs throughout his life such as Parts Dept. for Ted's Chrysler and Checker Auto Parts. Others included Stan's Pro Tow, American Fence and as a winder for VTCU. He was a long-time employee of the J. R. Simplot Co., first as a Laboror, then a Senior Plant Operator. He was a perfectionist in all he undertook.
He is survived by his wonderful son, Chance, (10), his mother, Sandy, father, Ron and his long-time girlfriend Reina Adame. Also surviving, are his aunt and uncle, Mike and Bonnie Petersen plus nieces, Candy and Brandi.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Eva L. Petersen, grandfather, William F Petersen.
Funeral services are under the care of the LDS Highland 8th Ward. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10th at 12:00 Noon at the church located at 2000 South Fairway Dr in Pocatello. Memorial services will follow at the Church on 1:00 P.M.
