Ajay Sood Obituary
1945 - 2018
Ajay Kumar Sood, 71, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2018 at Stanford Hospital in California.
Ajay was born in Lahore, India on December 28, 1946 to parents Ram Rattan and Swaran Lata Sood. With a PhD from Washington State in Engineering Science and a Master's degree from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, he was a highly educated but modest man.
Ajay moved to America in 1970 and to Boise in 1974. He married his wife, Mukta, in 1978 and welcomed his son, Amit, and daughter, Jyoti, in 1980 and 1985, respectively. He worked in transmission planning at Idaho Power and Sempra Energy Trading for over 40 years and was responsible for helping increase the capacity, safety, and reliability of the northwestern power grid. Ajay was one of the first members of the Hare Krishna temple in Boise and helped them through his services and charitable contributions. He also helped the Salvation Army and Idaho Foodbank.
Ajay was a very loving and caring person who touched many people's lives with his warmth and generosity. He loved his family very much and always made sure he was home by six to have dinner together. He was at every soccer game, every dance recital, every special moment and all the moments in between. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, two children, and two grandchildren.
Family, friends, and colleagues of Ajay are humbly invited to his residence at 1688 S. Lake Crest Way in Eagle, from 11:30 am – 2 pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018 to reminisce, grieve, and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Idaho Foodbank.

When I moved to Boise, mild mannered Ajay was introduced to me as part of the Indian Community here. Since then, while my interactions with him, professionally or otherwise have been at a minimal, all I can remember is his smiling face.
My heart felt condolences to the Sood family with prayers that the warmth of his love provides them the strength to endure his departure to the nether world.

Ajay was kind to acknowledge and spread the word. He was very modest, it is after an year when I discussed about MBA admission, I found he had masters from IIT and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
