Alice Julia Choate Elmer

3000 Alice Julia Choate Elmer was born May 28, 1911, in Fairfield, Neb., to Melvin and Grace Onstott Choate. She died April 13, 2006, at Valley View Nursing Home in Boise, Idaho. Cremation is under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. The family moved to Wyoming when Alice was a small child. Her schooling was at Hawk Springs, Yoder, and Laramie, Wyo. As a young woman, Alice moved to Boise, Idaho, where she was employed in the banking industry and then had her own accounting business for many years. She married John H. Elmer on March 23, 1946. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on March 23, 1999, a few months before John´s death in 2000. After retirement, Alice and John were active in the Good Sam Club and enjoyed many active years with their RV. She is survived by a sister, Ethel Choate Marlatt of Riverton, Wyo.; a brother, Alton Bill Choate of Hawk Springs, Wyo.; two nieces, Carolyn Cassell McCord of Rogue River, Ore., and Duene Marlatt Raper of Pinedale, Wyo.; three nephews, Clyde Cassell of Grapeview, Wash., Bill Marlatt or Riverton, Wyo., and C. Ray Choate of Adelaide, Australia; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was blessed with many friends, but a special one, Norma Sugden of Boise, remained constant through the several years Alice spent in assisted living and nursing home facilities. In addition to her husband John, Alice was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth Choate Cook and Mildred Choate Cassell, a niece, Lois Cook Williams, and two nephews, Dale Cook and Doug Marlatt. At Alice´s request there will be no services. Inurnment will be at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, Meridian, Idaho. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4601 S. Surprise Way, Boise, Idaho.
