Alice Roberts, 88, of Ontario, Oregon, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at St. Alphonsus Hospital. Alice was born November 3, 1927 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Bertha and William Peck. She was raised by her loving mother and grandmother, Mary Alice Jansen. They moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1943, where she graduated from Jefferson High School and trained as a nurse at Emmanuel Hospital School of Nursing (1945-1948). She worked as a nurse in Portland until she married her husband, Jack Roberts, in March 1952. After raising four daughters, she returned to nursing, working at Holy Rosary Medical Center until she retired in 1988.
Alice will be remembered by her husband and her daughters – Sylvia, Janine, Denise and Wendy - as a happy and energetic person who loved her family, gardening, reading, sewing and knitting. After Jack retired, she took great pleasure in the many travels they experienced together, especially her beloved Oregon Coast. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Saturday, July 23 at 1 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church (842 Alameda, Ontario). Condolences can be made to the family at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations to be made to the St. Paul Mission Endowment Fund (checks can be made payable to St. Paul Lutheran Church).
