Andrew Hadsell Obituary

On February 7, 2010, our good friend, Andrew William (Billy) Hadsell, left us to be with his parents and the Heavenly Father. Born June 25, 1939, in Phoenix, Arizona to Reverend Andrew H. Hadsell and Hulda I. Hadsell, Billy moved with his parents in 1945, to Southwest Idaho when his father accepted a pastership with congregations in Midvale and Melba, Idaho. Later the family moved to Boise's North End on 23rd Street and joined First Baptist Church at 13th and Washington Streets. Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church and Boy Scout Troop 90. Billy was cherished by his parents who raised him to be a kind and compassionate man who faced life's physical and mental challenges with a special kind hearted spirit that was evident in his smile, laugh and the sparkle in his eyes. He was home schooled and also attended the Nampa State School in Nampa, Idaho. Billy had many passions in his life. As a youth, he was an accomplished accordion player and was a master at video games which led to many acquaintances with the neighborhood kids. He had an amazing charm that led to many friendships throughout his life. Billy also enjoyed photography, collecting classical music and, above all, his movie collection. For employment, Billy worked for 27 years as a custodian for the Federal Government at the building located on Fort and 5th Streets in Boise. He retired in 1994. Billy leaves behind many friends and acquaintances who will remember his passion and joy of life and his will to overcome. Billy's family and friends wish to express their deepest gratitude to the many people who love and cared for him including his friends at the First Baptist Church, Amber Lane Residential Care, Four Rivers Hospice and Four Rivers Re-hab, Hawthorne Place Residential Care, Dr. Edward Newcombe, the staff at St. Lukes & St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Centers, Elks Re-Habilitation, Hillcrest Retirement and Assisted Living, Larry House and staff at the House of Hearing and Robert L. Aldridge, attorney at law. Thanks also to Billy's friends at Burger N Brew. A viewing will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel on Sunday, February 14 from 2-6 p.m. Family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. A celebration of Billy's life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 15, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, located at 5400 Fairview in Boise, Idaho, to be officiated by Armond Taylor. Billy will be laid to rest at Joplin Cemetery, immediately following the service.

I grew up on the North end of Boise and my friends and I loved to play at Billy's. In Billy’s world, you were always welcome. When the screen door opened at Billy’s house, there was always a glowing smile. Billy didn’t have any anger, bitterness, jealousy, greed or any of the other things that “normal” people have. Being with Billy taught us tolerance and acceptance and an understanding that you can find joy and fun in ANY person you meet no matter how “different” they seemed to be. We all learned a lot from Billy and I've thought about him often. He will be missed.
