Andrew Kristensen Obituary

Andrew "Kris" Kristensen
June 13, 1924 - January 6, 2022
Boise, Idaho - Andrew Marius Kristensen (Kris) passed away at the age of 97, on January 6, 2022, in Boise, Idaho.
Kris was born June 13, 1924. His father, Andrew Sr., emigrated from Denmark and his mother, Henrietta, emigrated from Germany. They made their home in San Francisco, where Kris was born and where he spent most of his life before moving to Boise, Idaho.
Kris graduated from Commerce High School in 1942. After which, he served two years stateside in the Army Air Corp. Following the war, he found his true calling in law enforcement. He spent his career with the San Francisco Police Department, rising to the rank of Captain until his retirement in 1978. He often stated how fortunate he was to have had "the best job ever". Kris loved sharing stories about his time on the force. After his retirement, Kris moved on to his next career and began working with his oldest son, Ken, building high rise buildings in downtown San Francisco. He loved having this opportunity to work closely with Ken.
In 1948, Kris met his wife of 73 years, Jacqueline. They made their life and homein the San Francisco area – adding four children along the way. In 1999, he and Jackie moved to Boise, Idaho. Kris has always had a zest for being useful and busy. As such, he integrated into the Boise community quickly. He volunteered with the Boise Police Department for 15 plus years. He was a firm believer in community policing and liked knowing he was contributing to the city in which he lived.
Kris also volunteered with the school system as a "reading grandpa". You could find him two days a week at either Pierce Park Elementary or Longfellow Elementary sitting with kids from kindergarten through the fifth grade. Kris has always had a love of children and volunteered as long as he was able.
All who knew Kris, knew he rarely went a day without saying that his wife, Jackie, was the love of his life and how lucky he was to have her. He made it his life goal to ensure she was always taken care of. He is preceded in death by his parents, hisbrother Len, and hisson, Dan. He leaves behind his wife, Jackie of Boise, ID; his daughter Kathy Lambert of Redmond, WA; his son Ken Kristensen of Las Vegas, NV; his son Ron Kristensen M.D., of Boise, ID; as well as 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Kris had an infectious laugh, a warm heart and an art for sharing stories. He will be greatly missed. Please join us in honoring his life on Friday, February 11th at 11:30 am at Boise Funeral Home Aclesa Chapel (8209 Fairview Ave Boise 83704). His ashes will be laid to rest later that day at 2:00 pm at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery.
