Arliene Eshelman Obituary

Arliene Eshelman Arliene Amelia Cora Eshelman was laid to rest in a private graveside service on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Arliene was affectionately known as "Sis" to her ten brothers and sisters, and "Aunt Sis" to her multiple nieces, nephews and other members of her large family. She was "Mom" to her four sons and their wives, Biff and Sylvia, Kurt and Charlotte, Brett and Mimi and Craig and Debbie, to her eight grandchildren, Keelie, Kay, Tamera, Angela, Brettin, Joy and Heather, she was "Grandma" and to her 14 great-grandchildren she was the lady with the fun toys in a box under the table. Arliene was born in Norway, Kan. in 1920, lived her formative years in the Yuma, Colo. vicinity before moving to Idaho with her family where she met and married Floyd Eshelman on April 12, 1939. Her life was devoted to her family as she and Floyd endeavored to raise their sons to love the Lord and serve Him. All four sons have been active in ministry with all of them pastoring or serving in ministry roles in various churches. Floyd and Arliene believed in giving their children benefits that were not afforded to them. All four sons graduated from Northwest Nazarene College (University). Much pleasure was derived from a family passion for rock hounding, antique collecting, and traveling. For many years Floyd and Arliene traveled to gem and mineral shows where they displayed beautiful gemstones primarily from the State of Idaho. In their latter years the traveling was reduced to visits to family and friends, day trips and yard sales. Arliene passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008 while participating in one of her enjoyable outings to Garden Valley with her son, Biff and daughter in law, Sylivia, with whom she has lived since Floyd passed away in 2004. She was blessed by God with 88 years of life and always endeavored to be a blessing to all she knew and loved. In addition to Floyd, Arliene was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, an infant daughter and one grandson, Shaun. A memorial reception is being provided by the family on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 201 N. Kings Rd., Nampa. All friends and family are invited to share a moment of reflection on the life of Arliene Eshelman. Nothing would please her more than to know that her extended family and friends were gathered to not merely remember her but to share in each other's lives and to give God the glory for His marvelous gift of life, and life eternal.

I remember from many, many days gone by when the clan lived in the rock house above Eagle. Biff. Curt & Bret I would head to Rocky Canyob on the weekends.
I never found such love and acceptance from one familt in my life as I did the Eshelman's. I found Arliene to even more than my own mom at times when I had something tat bothered me. I kiow and rejoice that I will be able to see her again, soon!!!
