Bert Poole

1931 - 2025

After having watched game 5 of the World Series just a few hours earlier, Bert passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 30th in the comfort and care of the wonderful staff at the Veterans Hospital in Boise.

Born in Rexburg, Idaho, amidst a spring snowstorm, Bert instantly became the apple of his adoring mother's eye. His childhood was a happy one. Despite economic hardships of the depression, it was filled with fishing, baseball, and family picnics.

After graduating from Idaho Falls High School, Bert attended the University of Idaho, where he joined the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and later earned his law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law.

He was the proud father, and although his life was unconventional, his children never doubted his love for them.

An excellent golfer, Bert achieved an impressive 17 eagles in his lifetime. He was always reading, practicing, and eager to help others improve their golf game. Curious and bright, he was a lifelong learner and a voracious reader, constantly seeking to better understand the natural world around him.

With the devoted help and kindness of his sons, Robert and John, Bert was able to remain in his home until the very end-something he wanted to be able to do. He often expressed his gratitude for all they did for him. He knew it would not have been possible without them.

Bert is survived by his children: Jeffery Keller, Robert Poole, John Poole, and Sandra Sweetland, along with a bushel of grandchildren.
