Bradley Morse Obituary

Brad was born, along with his twin sister, Ashley, on January 18, 1982. He died April 2, 2007, while working at his part-time job at Boise Parks and Recreation on Warm Springs Avenue. He was a junior at Boise State University majoring in computer science. He is survived by his parents, Rod and Julie Morse and four sisters and their husbands, Heather and Darren Murphy, Amber and Jim Young, Nichole and Jesse Sexton, and Ashley and TeJay Rogers. His surviving grandparents are Harlon and Margaret Winter, and Margaret Morse. He had five nephews, Austin, Jacob, Luke and Seth Murphy, Clive Sexton; one niece, Addelline Rogers, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Brad grew up in Meridian, Idaho, attending Linder Elementary, Meridian Middle, and Eagle and Meridian High Schools. A good student, Brad was salutatorian of M.H.S., and was honored on Senior Night by his teacher, Layne Ward, with the award for Outstanding Foreign Language Student in Japanese. He played tennis at Eagle and Meridian and was awarded Most Improved Player by his coach, Corey Winn. Brad's essay on affirmative action was selected as one of the best in the nation by MCI, and he won a trip to Washington D.C., a savings bond, and other prizes. Brad was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary in West Virginia, Ohio and Virginia, and has held several positions of leadership in his church. Brad was a little shy (except around his sisters and close friends), independent and hard-working (He gave up his scholarship at BSU to work for a year and a half doing computer tech support to save enough money to pay for his mission, generous (when he left for his mission, he gave his car to a young man whose mom had terminal cancer), smart (he fixed everybody's computers), and loving (he held his sister's babies at family dinners so they could eat, he played with his nephews even when he was tired, and cared for his sisters' cats and dogs when they couldn't). He enjoyed playing Frisbee golf with his friends, hiking in Yosemite, swimming, reading both non-fiction and fiction, and most of all, talking and laughing with his sisters. He was so helpful, easy-going, and respectful that it is easy to believe Brad was too good for this world. But the world is poorer for his absence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the L.D.S. Chapel located at 1985 N. Black Cat Road, Meridian, Idaho. Friends may call to visit with the family from 6 to 8 Friday evening at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Terrace Law Cemetery. p

Dear Mr. Morse and family,
Knowing how you nurtured others and truly took an interest in them, I know you raised your son to be an exemplary man. I am saddened by your loss and want you to know our family has been praying for you. You were my absolute favorite teacher in high school and you touched my life in a very positive way. I have three sons and can only imagine how your family is grieving. May God bless you and your family with comfort.

Brad was the very best friend a person could ask for. He stood by me through a great many things, and was always a comfort and an inspiration. He was always ready to listen, or simply laugh with and at me. I cherish his friendship and will always cherish the memory of his spirit.

I am so sad to hear of your family's loss. Brad is a terrific young man. I have always been impressed with the sacrifices he made in both time and opportunities, to pay for his own mission. I knew that he was serving a mission out of his love for his Savior, and for his fellow men. It is easy to see how Brad became such an exemplary young man by looking at the lives of his parents. We love you all, and are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

May the memories bring a smile to your face and warm your hearts. Although I do not know you, your son and mine (Chris Trakel) are good friends. They were team mates on the tennis team, hung out with each other (and Donny) all through high school and the best part, they have stayed in touch with each other. Your loss is deeply felt by us. My prayers are with you and your family.

As someone blessed with the great opportunity of attending the same singles' branch as Brad, I feel a great sense of loss, for myself, for my friends, but especially for this world that has lost a man of such immense goodness. His willingness to give of himself was unmeasured and I was privileged to be a recipient of his selflessness many times. I too find it easy to believe the Lord wanted him home, but for the rest of us who must be without him for a time, it is difficult to understand. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, and I also send my gratitude for raising such a good man whom I am honored to consider my friend.

Our family is so sorry for the passing of your son. We do know your family personally, but we were so impressed by the services that he performed for others, for the Christlike qualities that he possessed, he is truly an example to the young people in this area.
You are in our thoughts and prayers and may you be comforted. He is now in in his Savior's arms, doing good works there.

I had the pleasure of being Brad's Japanese teacher for most of his time in high school. As a teacher I meet so many young people that most of their names and faces quickly fade away in my memory; but every year a few make their mark on my life that endures. Brad was one of those special students that makes my career worth the effort. He was not only a student, but a friend. The world is diminished by his passing.

We have been grieving with you in this senseless tragedy. We hope you will find peace eventually in the realization that Brad is in the hands of our Heavenly Father. Our love and prayers are with you all.
