Caren Hanson Obituary

Caren Fay Hanson 1951-2009 Caren Fay Hanson entered into rest on July 24, 2009 at St. Lukes Regional Hospital. Careen was born to Lester and Mabel Hanson on March 5, 1951, in Whitefish, Mont. She spent her childhood camping with her parents, sister, and her parent's best friends the Higdems. She graduated from Flathead High School where she played the clarinet in the marching band (She was also a "Baton Twirling Mom"). She spent the first half of her adult life in Kalispell, Mont., raising her oldest daughter and working as a union grocery checker, where she met two of her life long friends. She spent nine years in Eau Claire, Wisconsin enjoying raising her youngest daughter and starting a morning coffee tradition with her best friend that would last until the day that she died. She moved to Meridian, Idaho in 1998 to be closer to her parents, her sister and her new nephew, as well as her daughter and first grandson and later her first granddaughter. Caren loved being a mother and a grandma. She spent the last 11 years having her grandkids over for sleepovers and attending each of their football and soccer games, as well school programs and field trips. During her time in Meridian, Idaho, Caren worked for St. Luke's health information services giving doctors a hard time for not signing their charts in a timely manner as well as laughing with her co-workers. Caren was known for her laugh and sense of humor which is why she had so many friends who loved and cared so much about her. Caren had an incredible work ethic that made it so her girls were always well cared for. Words cannot describe how much she'll be missed. However, Caren will live on in her grandkids, daughters, family, and friends. She is survived by her two daughters; Sharie Wheat and Misty Dietz, her grandchildren; Dennin and Brooklynn Wheat, Fenix Dietz (step-grandchild), her sister Colleen DeGrange, nephew Nicholas DeGrange, her Uncle "Buzz" Dufloth, and her many close cousins and friends. She will be joining in heaven, her parents Lester and Mabel Hanson, her grandparents and many aunts and ncles. Services will be held at Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel in Meridian, on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Meridian Cemetery and then a reception will be held at Summers Funeral Home. Caren's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Oncology Ward at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center for their endless compassion and excellent care.

I worked at Plexus with Caren and we visited off and on for the last seven years since we were both laid off. I just heard of her passing and was so terribly sad. I will miss her phone calls and Christmas cards, she loved her family so much and was a wonderful friend. My thoughts and prayers however late are with you all.

Caren was my best friend in College at Univ. of Montana and we kept that friendship going all these years. I was lucky to get to come down and visit her over Labor Day several years ago. I got to join in on a family birthday party so met all her children, sister and grand kids. I can truely say Caren was very much the hub of her familly and I know she will be missed dearly. She did a wonderful job raising her girls by herself through some pretty tough times. What a wonderful family!! You are all in my prayers. Love Kathy Pierce/Ahlgren Lewistown MT

There's magic in a Mother's touch,
And sunshine in her smile.
There's love in everything she does
To make our lives worthwhile.
We can find both hope and courage
Just by looking in her eyes.
Her laughter is a source of joy,
Her words are warm and wise.
There is a kindness and compassion
To be found in her embrace,
And we see the light of heaven
Shining from a Mother's face.

Sharie, Misty, & Family,
Your Mom holds a Very Special place in our hearts and Always Will! We are very saddened that a Wonderful person like your Mom who only brought goodness and laughter into everyone's life had to be taken at such a young age from all of us. It doesn't seem fair at all that such a caring person that made this world a better place had to be taken from us. Caren was a very special person and I have very fond and funny memories that we shared with your Mom that will never be forgotten. What I remember most, that I have been remembering a lot is that when you (Sharie) would be talking on the phone to your Mom you would alawys end the call by saying, "I sure Love You Mom!" How wonderful is that? We are always told to live every last moment as if it were our last or the last time we will ever talk to or see our loved one. You always did that by telling your Mom how much you loved her! I can hear those words, "I sure Love You Mom" echoing in my memories. If you are feeling regret for anything, your shouldn't. Your Mom knew how much she was loved by her daughters and other family and friends; and how much she is still loved. We Love You All! God Be With You!

We are saddened to hear of Carens passing. We have loved having her as a neighbor, friend and customer. We feel very lucky to have gotten to know her since the wedding and will truley miss "bumping" into her around town. We have always cherished her as our favorite "Mother of the Bride".

I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear Mother, as I will also mourn the loss of my dear friend. I worked many years with her at JCPenney, and got to know one of the most caring people I'd ever met. Her sense of humor and loving stories about her family made me realize how lucky she was to have you all. May your memories of Caren bring you comfort in your loss.
