Carmen Lee Hoff, 77, of Boise, passed away Feb. 20, 2018 after a long battle with dementia.
Carmen was born July 17, 1940 in New Plymouth, ID, as the first-born daughter to Andy and Linnie Anders. In her younger years, she lived in Cascade. In 1949, at the age of 9, her family moved to Boise. Carmen attended Whitney Elem., South J.H., and Boise H.S. Her senior year she attended Borah High School and was among the first graduating class of 1959. She furthered her education by attending Boise Junior College and graduated in 1961. She then took a full time clerical position at Prudential Insurance. Carmen was a very dedicated and accomplished worker. This work ethic allowed her to represent her Boise office on a trip to Prudential's home office in New Jersey for an exceptional service award. She continued to work at Prudential for the next 46 years until she retired in 2006 as a Marketing Assistant.
She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, reading, and doing arts and crafts. Carmen's favorite annual event was a week-long camping trip at Silver Creek Plunge with all the women and children in the family. This tradition was first started by her and her sister in 1975 and continued for more than 35 years.
Carmen was a caring, kind, and compassionate person to all. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She truly cherished spending time with her siblings and adored her five grandchildren. She loved her family above all else and her family was lucky to have her.
She is survived through a brother, Malcolm Anders; a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and John Shay; a cousin, Rita Sorrells; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jim Tremewan; a daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Kevin York; a son, Darren Hoff; granddaughter and husband, Merisa and Nate Bertels; grandsons, Brady Hoff and Carson York; granddaughters, Bailey Hoff and Maiya Schmidt; and a great granddaughter, Adelyn Bertels. She was preceded in death by her parents and many close friends. There will be a Celebration of Life in May.
