Cathy Warren Obituary

Cathy Ellen (Nii) Warren 1953 - 2011 On September 18, 2011, Cathy Ellen (Nii) Warren, of Boise, began her journey to Heaven after a brief but furious battle with gall bladder cancer. Cathy was born on May 16, 1953 in Idaho Falls, ID to Tsuneo and Amy Nii, the first of six children. She was raised on her family's farm near Pingree, ID and graduated from Snake River High School in 1971. She completed her formal education by earning an Associate Degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, ID. Cathy met the love of her life at a Christmas party in 1977. She and Jim married in March of 1981 and lived in the Seattle area until 1993. During those years, son Spenser and daughter Kelli were born. Cathy has always been so proud of their accomplishments, but even more proud of the adults they have become. The family moved to Boise in August of 1993, in time for Spenser to start 1st grade. Cathy was a stay at home mom until Kelli began school, then decided to return to work. Cathy found a position at Mountain View Elementary, where she ran the school, cleverly disguised as the school secretary. She worked there for 12 wonderful years, making friends of teachers, students, and parents. Those who knew Cathy liked her, and those who knew her well loved her. The Warren family would like to thank Dr. Bridges and the staff at MSTI in Meridian for their efforts and support during Cathy's battle. We would also like to thank the staff and faculty at Mountain View Elementary, the members of the Colehaven Ward, and all her friends for their love and support during this time. Cathy is survived by her husband Jim, son Spenser of Midland TX, daughter Kelli of Boise, mother Amy Nii of Boise, sister Karen Orien (Harold) of Boise, sister Wendy Harris (Steven) of Meridian, brother Rob Nii (Gayla) of Shelley ID and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Cathy was preceded in death by her father Tsuneo and sisters Lorraine and Kelly. A Funeral Service is planned for Saturday, September 24, at 10 am, to be held at the LDS Stake Center 1111 S. Cole Road (next to the Boise Temple). Everyone who knew Cathy is invited to attend and stay after to share memories. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Mountain View Elementary, through Boise Public Schools Education Foundation, 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, ID 83709 or online at boiseschoolsfoundation.com. Condolences may be made at www.bowmanfuneral.com

Jim, Spenser, Kelli, what a beautiful service today. I never had the pleasure of meeting Cathy...but...after hearing all the wonderful things everyone had to say about her I truly wish I could have. She was obviously loved and adored. So sorry for you loss.

Our deepest deepest sympathies to you Jim, Spenser and Kelli. Cathy was not only my cousin but we grew up only a few miles apart. As the years went on, we grew farther and farther away from our homesteads. but never in our hearts. Cathy always had a smile.. she always laughed... and even when she was "picking" on me because I was a "lowly" sophmore and she was a "mighty" senior in high school... she did it all in fun. ( though I didn't think washing my makeup off everytime she saw me was fun or making me carry her books to classes) But we were cousins! Since our fathers have passed we didn't see each other much, but Cathy and Jim were always with a smile. Spenser and Kelli will always know how much the community loved Cathy and how much she impacted the people around her. With all the saddness the happened in her life, I know there was more happiness that surrounded her. We hope our prayers and blessings help lessened the pain in your hearts... and the time you spent with Cathy lifts your spirits and know she is no longer in pain. May you know, Jim, Spence and Kelli... you are in our thoughts and prayers ...always. Love, Lewis and Barbara (Nii) Rounds Jupiter, Florida. Sons and Daughter-in-law. My little Jack would wait for me after Kindercamp 4 days a week in the office under the careful loving watchful eyes of Cathy. I remember how excited she was when Jack would finally talk to her (he was so shy) I was comforted thinking she would be at Mt. View again knowing our principal had transferred to another school. She really made a difference. To the family I am so sorry for your loss. Jack said today "I don't want Cathy to die." Rest in Peace Cathy.

Cathy was the heart and soul of Mountain View. She was our mainstay through different principals and staff changes, and we could always count on her sunny smile to welcome us each day. She truly cared about the students and made each one of my boys feel loved. We will miss her generosity and compassion. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as they mourn the loss of a truly great woman. Jeff, April, David, Jacob, and Caleb

Cathy was one of the most amazing, dedicated, caring and loving people I have ever met. She will be missed dearly but I know she holds a special place in many hearts - especially those Mountain View students and staff that were lucky enough to see her smiling face every day. Lots of love to you and your dear family! xoxo Emily Shepherd and Family

I was sad to hear the news of Cathy's passing. She was a great friend and patient co-worker. She took me under her wing when I first got hired at Koelsch Elementary and patiently helped me learn the ropes of being a school secretary. She was always cheerful and helpful. Cathy will be greatly missed. You could count on her for miles of smiles everytime you saw her. I will miss her laugh and the conversations that we shared when I went to Mt. View to repair phones or computer wiring for her. She always spoke very highly of her family, how proud she was of her children and how much she cared for her husband.
