Dan Duncan Obituary

Dan Lee Duncan
1927 - 2017
Dan Lee Duncan 89, of Meridian Idaho, left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Amber Lane Residence in Boise after struggling with Alzheimer's for the last 4 years.
Dan was born August 26, 1927 in Tacoma Washington to Claude and Oro Duncan. Dan was an avid sailor and hunter. He loved sailing weekends at Spring Shores reservoir and spent summer vacations sailing in Canada with his family and friends. He spent most hunting seasons with his dearest friend, Jerry Chapman. Dan also enjoyed several hobbies, including cross county skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, camping, playing his clarinet and saxophone.
Dan worked for Blue Cross of Idaho for 27 years and became president before retiring in 1989. After his retirement, Dan and his wife of 35 years, Sidney Duncan, set sail for a 7 year adventure that began in California and ended in Florida. They returned home to Idaho and settled in Crouch where they built their dream home. They would live there until Sidney became ill. Dan dedicated his life to caring for Sidney for 10 years, never leaving her side until the day she died.
Dan is survived by his children, Sue Duncan Huskey and husband Dan Huskey, Melissa Duncan, and Jeff Anderson. Grandchildren Ryan Carrie, Dakota Gilster and fiancé, Andy Newman, Cheyenne Gilster, Duncan Gilster, Zac Anderson, and Rio Anderson.
Dan was loved and admired by his family and friends, he will be dearly missed every second of every day.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date.

My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May prayers strengthen you and memories comfort you, and may our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loves us, comfort your hearts and "make you firm". (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17)

My heartfelt thoughts to Dan's family. He was always one of my favorite people at Blue Cross of Idaho and I was fortunate to see him occasionally around Boise. He always gave me a hug and a very nice conversation. He will be missed.
