Dana Joanne Mills Sperber, age 73, passed away at her home in Star, Idaho on February 1, 2019 after a valiant 20-year fight with lung cancer. She was surrounded by three generations of her family members.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 4, 1945 to Sherman and Mary Mills, Dana relocated to Manhattan Beach, California following University. She loved and dedicated her life to teaching at Jefferson School in Redondo Beach and influencing the lives of her students. She was known to her students as Mrs. Albright. She had a deep passion and love for all animals, enjoyed bird watching and was the family historian. There was always an open spot at her table for anyone in need. Dana cherished and cared for the many people with whom she came in contact and gave her love freely and unconditionally.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Charles Sperber; five siblings: Beverly Janus, Max Mills, Dennis Mills, Anne Norris and Kathy Baldwin. She is also survived by her son, Jonathon Thompson Albright and his wife, Jamia and daughter, Elizabeth Albright Chapman and her husband, Eric; three grandchildren: Dylan Albright, Bodhi Albright and Michael Chapman. She leaves behind many cherished family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Star Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 7th for all of Dana's family and friends. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at LifeSpring Christian Church, 174 North Star Road, Star, Idaho at 10:30 a.m. following the graveside ceremony.
