Darrell Roy Bainbridge, who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend died on October 21, 2014 in Fruitland, ID with his son in-law, Mike Mercer by his side. He was 74.
Darrell was born on November 11, 1939 to Jack and Naoma Bainbridge and lived most of his life in Payette, Idaho. He was the middle of 3 sons. His parents owned the Payette Food Center, where he worked alongside his family. This is where Darrell found his calling to be a butcher. He would go on to work for Albertson's in the butcher block for over twenty-five years. Darrell had two sons, Brad and Danny with his first wife Zelda. In 1968, he married his second wife Donna Rae Miller, who had two daughters, Kristal and Misty, which he raised as his own. They were married for 42 years. Their love story was inspiring.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, golfing, his Irish setters, and his job. He was a very giving man. He often donated his time during the holidays to Meals on Wheels when his health allowed, and opened his home where he and Donna helped to raise two of their granddaughters, Joey and Tara. In the last few years when he was more homebound, he enjoyed baking goods for his neighbors, and no matter what it was he always threw in some raisins. In more recent years, he passed his time watching westerns on TV and taking Charlie, his dog, on walks around the neighborhood on his golf cart.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Bainbridge, his parents Jack and Naomi Bainbridge, his brothers Jake and Gene. He is survived by his sons, his daughters Kristal Watson (Mike Mercer) of Payette, Misty Hasley (Todd Hasley) of Medford, OR. His grandchildren, Joey Curry of Port Austin, MI, Tara Curry-Brasher (Bryan Brasher) of Boise, Keely Watson of Boise, Amber Watson of Payette, and Nick Hasley of Boise, along with 7 great grandchildren whom he enjoyed very much.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church located at 502 N. 11th St in Payette. Condolences may be made at www.bowmanfuneral.com.
