Debra Hodge Obituary

Debra Lynn (Webb) Hodge
1970-2018
Debra Lynn (Webb) Hodge, 47, died July 03, 2018 at her home in Boise after living courageously for 30 months with a high grade GBM brain cancer. She was born July 25, 1970, in Moscow, Idaho to Garry and Linda Webb. She spent a few years in Bonners Ferry, then moved to Cascade, Idaho in 1975. Debra was a 10 year 4-H member experiencing Grand Champion lambs to the unforgettable "Fat Blueberry" formal sewing creation. She served as State 4-H Teen Association officer and was the Idaho National 4-H Congress Leadership winner in 1987. She attended Cascade schools from 1st grade through High School, forming lasting friendships. She attended University of Idaho joining Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She transferred to Washington State University, where she graduated in 1994 with a BS degree in Hotel Restaurant Management.
Debra met her future husband, Ron Hodge while attending college. They were married August 24, 1991 on the shores of Cascade Lake. Their daughter Sarah was born in 1993. They moved to Boise after graduation to start her management career at the Park Center Red Robin Restaurant. Their son Andrew was born in 1997. In 1999 she began working for Home Federal Bank. During her time there she attended the national School of Banking in New York, graduating with honors. She advanced to Vice President, Director of Human Resources. She finished her career at the Bank of Cascades in Boise.
Debra loved going camping with family and friends; hunting for morels and huckleberries. She enjoyed the loud and competitive family Pictionary games; attending Sarah's gymnastic meets in the famous LODRHOM (Loderhome); walking the greenbelt and foothills with their dogs Jango and Mila; and spontaneously leading the Vandal Marching Band at University of Idaho tailgate parties.
Debra is known for her joy of life; her laughter; inclusiveness and respect for others. The value she placed on relationships with friends and family. Debra approached her cancer with the same integrity, courage, and strength she demonstrated every day of her life.
Debra is survived by her husband Ron and their children, Sarah and Andrew. Her parents, Garry and Linda Webb; her brother David Webb; her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Charlie Loewen and their children, Cameron and Faith, all of Meridian; Ron's sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Nick Anastasiadis and their children, Laura and Gabe; Ron's mother Jessie Zajanc; Ron's father and his wife Larry Hodge and Jan Nelsen, all of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Robert and Viola Webb, Cascade; and Earle and Stella Ward, Garden Valley; and her childhood friend, Julie Young, Cascade.
Debra believed in (Being Present) and wrote in July 2017 in her diary, "I encourage everyone to find a way from time to time, renew, reset, and really live, see the beauty in the world…. Take time to really see and feel those things, happiness, contentment flows through your veins (great medicine for the soul). That my friends is called living and loving in the moment."
A thank you to Dr. Hajjar, Dr. Alluri and nurse Sharon, Dr. Choutka and a special thank you to nurse Michelle Behrens of Treasure Valley Hospice.
A Memorial is planned at Cole Community Church in Boise at 2:00 pm July 25, 2018.
A Celebration of Life Memorial is planned at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, in the Mediation Garden at 6:00 pm September 29, 2018. In lieu of flowers suggested memorials should be sent to Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure, on line at abc2.org
