Don Haacke Obituary

Don Paul Haacke 63, Meridian, ID passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at home from complications due to a lifetime with diabetes. He was born in Idaho Falls, ID on May 7, 1946 to Iris Marcene Adams and Elmer Paul Haacke. He grew up in Idaho Falls and Elko, NV. He graduated Ben Lomond High, received BA & MA of Library Science from the University of Washington, where he met Vivienne Thereault. They married in the Logan Temple June 16th, 1970. They moved to Boise, ID, had 5 children & enjoyed full active lives in the LDS church. Don Haacke worked as a Librarian for BSU for 18 yrs. He then worked for the City of Boise as Archivist for 16 yrs. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, gardening, computers, coaching soccer, genealogy & church life where he served as Stake Genealogist. Don & Vivienne divorced after 27 years of marriage. He married Sheryl Anderson December 5, 1998 in the Boise, ID Temple. Don & Sheryl enjoyed 11 yrs of marriage together & enjoyed travel to Florida, The Bahamas, California, Utah & Arizona. Don was well known for his quirky sense of humor, his intelligence and he was beloved by many. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Paul Haacke and stepfather, Delbert Beck. Survivors include wife Sheryl; mother, Iris Marcene; children, Simon, Laura, Sean, Camille, Andrew; brother, Von; sister, Marsha; 5 stepchildren, spouses & grandchildren among others. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the LDS church located at 1985 N. Black Cat Rd, Meridian, ID, 83642. A viewing open to the public will be held at Relyea Funeral Chapel (318 N. Latah, Boise, ID 83706), Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday prior to the services. Burial will immediately follow the services at the Kuna Cemetery. www.relyeafuneralchapel.com
