Donald Showmaker

Donald Glenwood Showmaker 1916 ~ 2012 Donald Glenwood Showmaker, 95, passed away at his home in Marsing, Idaho, on January 23, 2012. Don's loyal wife, Gloria, of 35 years, was by his side. Don was born on August 13, 1916, in Tywappity Township, Charleston, Missouri. His parents died at an early age and Don was forced to grow up quickly. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and later served in the Army during WWII. It was during his time with the CCC he discovered Idaho and chose to make it his home. Don had a long successful career in sales and developed many friendships. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and working with Gloria in her antique business. Don was an avid gardener and delighted in sharing the fruits of his labor. He enjoyed watching the sun come up over Lizard Butte and the myriad of wildlife on the Snake River. Don had the opportunity to be a father figure to many. He had a large heart, wonderful sense of humor, and generous nature. His children, many grand and great grandchildren, will miss him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012, at Relyea Funeral Chapel located at 318 N. Latah in Boise. A viewing will occur prior to the service from 12:00 NOON until 1:50 p.m. Interment will follow at the Morris Hill Cemetery.
