Edith Tinker Obituary

Edith "Fay" (Jewell) Tinker
July 28, 1940 ~ August 21, 2017
Edith Fay Tinker , age 77, of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully at Warm Lake, Idaho on August 21, 2017. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many.
Born July 28, 1940 in Havre, Montana to Ernest Jewell and Edith Hickethier Jewell. Fay was the youngest of three children. As a child, she enjoyed 4-H, horses, learning to cook with her mother, playing the piano and clarinet and driving the truck for her dad. Fay attended schools in Havre, Montana where she was active in choir, band, pep club and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. It was in Havre where she met the love of her life Larry Elwin Tinker.
A loyal wife of 59 years, Fay was a good sport as she accompanied Larry in moves from Havre to Cut Bank, Montana, as well as stops in Arco, Kamiah, Weiser and Gooding, Idaho. Fay kept herself busy raising her three children Bret, Lorie and Brad while supporting her family working in a variety of jobs. She cared for neighborhood children in Cut Bank, Montana. She was an elementary and high school secretary in Arco and a legal secretary in Kamiah. Fay worked at St. Benedict's Hospital in Ontario, Oregon and for Dr. Giever in Weiser. While in Gooding, she worked at St. Benedicts of Jerome, the Walker Center and also for family physician Dr. Smith.
Fay had several passions in life, but her greatest joy came from her family and spending time together. She loved baking, cooking, chalking ceramics, embroidery, sewing, crocheting, looming, volunteering at the Presbyterian Church, Bible Study Fellowship, Lady Lions, bowling, board games and playing cards. She was actively engaged in her children's sporting events and extra curricular activities. In their later years Fay and Larry enjoyed being Arizona snowbirds, traveling to Hawaii, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Glacier Park, Canada and taking several cruises. While at home she was an expert at Wheel of Fortune, pinochle and caring for her dogs Casper and Tucker.
Fay is survived by her brothers Robert (Marlene) and William (Martha) Jewell of Montana, daughter Lorie Hoff (Trey), and sons Bret Tinker and Brad Tinker (Michele) of Boise. Fay has seven grandchildren, Brandon Tinker (Mandan, ND), Michaela Chaplin, (Brody), Melissa Hoff, Michael Tinker (Danielle), Caether Hoff, Kyle Hoff (Trisha) and Taos Tinker all of Boise. She also has four great grandchildren: Broxton Chaplin, Jace Tinker, Tinley Chaplin and Brooks Tinker. Fay was preceded in death by her husband Larry Tinker, mother Edith Mae Jewell and father Ernest Jewell.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the many doctors and care givers throughout Fay's life. A special thank you to Grace Assisted Living and the Life Care Center of Boise.
