Edward Collins Obituary

Edward Errol Collins
1960 - 2018
Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on April 22nd, 1960 to Douglas Errol Collins and Lois Jean Collins. Died February 7th, 2018 in Boise, Idaho. Mr. Ed was the baby brother to Lynne Colleen Comstock, Nancy Jean Collins, and Douglas Patrick Collins. Eddie grew up playing in the sage brush on the hills of Pocatello and in the Snake River at the family cabin in Island Park. He loved to hunt with his father, his brother and eventually his son, Colby. His many spoiled Labradors were constant companions for many years. He married Mary Collins in Pocatello and had two beautiful, smart, successful children, his son Colby and daughter Madison. Ed managed motels and bars as a young man, but his true calling was as a skilled carpenter and remodeler. He built amazing furniture out of the natural wood and rocks of Idaho. His creations were not only original, but beautiful, just like the man. He is survived by his mother Lois, his sister Nancy, his brother Doug, and his children, Colby (Candice), Madison, and his grandchildren Sailor and Easton. As in life, he did not want a fuss, so no formal service will be held.

I count myself lucky to have known "Eddie" as he was known in our neighborhood of Pocatello. I was one of those who joined Eddie in the sagebrush, tree fort building, underground tunnel building, magpie hunting with pellet guns, rock fights with the neighborhood bullies, boxing matches on the Hadley's front lawn, and never ending tackle football games in the Herzog's backyard. It was a time of innocence and neighborhood camaraderie, summer days that seemed to never end. And Eddie, along with his brother Doug, were there every step of the way, as we careened from one daily adventure to the next, without a care in the world.
Eddie was a great kid, quiet, unassuming, never saw him get mad, frustrated, nor utter an unkind word to anyone. But despite his smaller stature compared to some of older boys, he was fearless, active, and never declined an opportunity to participate in the next adventurous challenge, no matter how daunting.
As with most neighborhoods, we all eventually went our separate ways and lost touch, but I will always have fond memories of Eddie and the neighborhood bunch on Mohawk Dr, amongst the fields of sagebrush in Pocatello.
Rest in peace my brother...

I just now finding that Ed has left us. I am not sure the last time I saw Ed. My memories are from the early days when he had the keg house in the back of What is now Goodies across from ISU. We had good times just hanging out testing the various beers on tap. Ed and his brother Doug were good friends to many. My sincere condolences to the Collins family, I wish that I could of had another beer with Ed. Thanks for being my friend. Jeffery L Matkin
