Ila Lorraine Thompson was born in Winnebago, MN to Kenneth and Lillie Baxter on October 11, 1925. The family moved to Mankato, MN where Lorraine attended grade school, high school and Mankato Commercial College. She worked for the National Bank of Commerce. The family later moved to Minneapolis, MN. There, Lorraine worked in a dental office for Dr. Oscar Abrahams. In 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, James Rudolph Thompson. They lived in student housing on the University of Minnesota campus while Jim was going to school. They eventually owned a home in Brooklyn Center, MN. They were blessed with three sons. Lorraine was active volunteering in the children's school activities, Cub Scouts, and the Lutheran Church. She worked part time in a dentist's office. In 1967, Jim was working for Boise Cascade and they were transferred to Portland, OR for 2 years and then to Boise, ID. She worked for several orthodontists before retiring. She loved taking care of her home and yard. She was a long time member of King of Glory Lutheran Church. her husband and sons were her greatest joys. In 2011, she and Jim moved to Valley View Retirement Community. He died in 2013, and she continued to live at V.V. until her death on May 27, 2015. Survived by her sons Kevin (Karen) of Ft. Myers, FL; Dan of Bellevue, WA; and Scott, of Boise. She had 5 grandchildren.
