Jacob Dawson Obituary

Jacob William Dawson
November 19, 1984-April 21, 2017
Jacob, 32, of Prineville, Oregon, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family. Jacob battled a rare, congenitive kidney disease, and we can picture him running in heaven, realizing his vision of being free of his dialysis cord!
Jacob spent his youth in Star, Idaho, growing up with two older sisters, Tabitha and Traci. Star Friends Church and Quaker Hill  were an important part of those years. He attended Star Elementary School, Eagle Middle School, and one year at Eagle High School before his family moved to Prineville.
While in Prineville Jacob attended Prineville Community Church.  He graduated from Crook County High School in 2003, where he excelled in track. He also served his country through the United States Army.
Jacob received a kidney transplant from his father Larry in 2014. He enjoyed a year of good health, during which he enrolled at COCC and made the dean's list, hoping to become a transplant coordinator.  Jacob's health deteriorated after the kidney transplant rejected, forcing him into dialysis.
Jacob touched people in his life with his selfless, caring, gentle heart. His church community in Prineville was deeply important to Jacob, and he was a big part of the children's programs there.  The church started a program in his honor called "Jacob's Grub," which gives freezer meals to anybody in need.
He had many good friends in the Prineville community that he called home.  He loved to play games (especially pinochle), camp, and eat homemade pizza. Jacob loved Boise State football, and shared a great memory with his parents when they attended the Fiesta Bowl.  He was also a very attentive and fun uncle to his three nephews, who adored him. Last month, Jacob was able to take part in a play by Ochoco Players Community Theater.   This meant so much to him, and was a source of pride and joy.
Jacob had great faith and knew that he was as God formed him, and that His purpose for him would be revealed. He wanted to be part of showing and sharing God's power to the world.
We would like to thank his entire Prineville Family for their continued love and support of Jacob. We have great appreciation for Tom and Gay Garner "adopting" Jacob when his family moved from Prineville.
To our wonderful family and friends, we thank you for all of your thoughts, messages, and prayers. You have all meant so much to us during this time.
We would also like to thank Rich and Char Anderson for their amazing support to a family of complete strangers in the past week. Your kindness and generosity has touched us all profoundly.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Larry and Sue Dawson, of Fruitland, Idaho, sister and brother-in-law Tabitha and Tom Greller (sons Ray and Luke), of Newberg, Oregon, and sister Traci Creason (son Gabriel), of McMinnville, Oregon. He is also survived by his grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held in Prineville Community Church in Prineville Oregon on April 29 at 3 o'clock, and at Star Friend's (Community) Church in Star, Idaho, on May 2 at 3 o'clock.
The organizations that were special to Jacob are  Prineville Community Church, the National Kidney Foundation, and the Ochoco Players Community Theater.
Jacob, you finally have the answers to all of your hotly debated theology questions...

I taught Jacob in 4th grade in Star, ID. I remember him to be kind, cheerful, helpful to others and just bursting with happiness. Oh, that smile! It lit up our classroom all year long. I'm sure he brightened the world around him throughout his short life. Rest in peace, Jacob. You made the world a better place for having been a part of it.

Jacob was a fine young man who took responsibility seriously. He enlisted, doing what many don't. He had a great smile from the time he was a little kid until the last of his days. Smart as a whip, made the dean's list. Jacob - you touched many lives and spread God's love to those you met. Take care bud, you deserve you're reward.

You were just a little guy when I first met you and you grew to the fine young man you become. It looks as if you touched a lot of people in your short life and I'm sure God welcomed you with open arms. You will be remembered always.

To the one guy that I could always speak freely with and trust with every word.
To the many nights after practice that we spent in the hot tub relaxing the soreness away.
To a friend that I lost contact with, but will never forget.
Rest well and be in peace my friend, I'll never forget you, or what you meant to me.

Jacob was a wonderful Christian man with a soft heart for those he touched. He will be greatly missed by all and he is now free of the physical pain he had to endure these last few years. God received a fine young man who now is in the arms of Jesus. Rex and Deb
