James Boggs Obituary

Jim was born in Boise on Oct., 4, 1926. His parents were Col. Clarence and Flora Fee Boggs. Jim died April 15, 2006 in a Caldwell nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Jim attended schools in Boise, Washington, California and the Brown Military Academy. He married Barbara Bliss on Aug. 29, 1948 in Boise. During the early 1950s he was a Seascout leader in Boise. Jim served a total of 27 years with military (Navy and Army). While in the Navy he was a seaman on a destroyer in WW II. During his years with the Army he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Jim was stationed in many areas of the United States, Korea and Germany. During his years with the military he was awarded many metals, including the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army in 1973, returning to his Boise home. He then worked at the Idaho State Correctional Facility for 10 years. He enjoyed learning about early Idaho history and military history, especially the Gatling gun. His favorite pastimes were feeding the birds in the backyard and taking care of his dogs and cats. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Bliss Boggs; daughters, Melinda Smith (Harry), of Nampa, Debbie Leonard (Greg) of Nampa; son, Tim Boggs (Debby) of Hawaii; grandchildren, Curtis Williams (Chrystal), of Seattle, Monica Miller (Bret) of Boise, Shauna Boggs and Jesse Boggs, of Hawaii; step-grandchildren, Patrick Leonard and Mandy Leonard, of Boise; two great-grandchildren, Ella Jo Miller, of Boise and Forest Kai Williams, of Seattle; sister and brothers-in law; Betty Jo and Jimmy Clark of Boise and Bill Bliss, of San Jose. He was preceded in death by his parents Col. Clarence and Flora Fee Boggs; and two sons, Tom and David.
