Dearest Diane,
You and I are old buddies, from our early years of being a wife and a mother...still trying to figure out what the heck we were doing! I thank you for being such a good friend and neighbor in those days!
We met while I was walking my new baby, Rachel, and you were pregnant with Lance. We became good friends!
You were the most perfect little prego, you followed the rule book to a tee!!!
Lance was born with craniosynostosis and went on to endure numerous surgeries to correct the deformity, from the time he was an infant! Craniosynostosis is a premature fusion of the skull bones. I can remember seeing this little guy with his head totally bandaged, after a 12 hour surgery, but still smiling and not complaining one bit!
This speaks strongly to the character of this young man!
Lance and Rachel became good friends, and we used to walk the old Emsworth neighborhood....by then both our second children were here, Patrick and Brett!
On the one walk, while holding hands as they always did, Lance fell and cut his lip! Rachel was crying and trying to doctor him up, but he was tough as could be!
Lance went through school being bullied, for his physical disabilities, yet, he still endured! Always the conqueror!
Lance went on to get a dual degree in engineering at Penn State, and proudly served in the US Airforce, 2 tours of duty! What a remarkable young man!
I am deeply saddened by the loss of a truly remarkable young man who overcame so many challenges in his life! There are very few in the world who could ever accomplish what you did Lance! I believe that your exit from this world was one out of control moment, and a wish you peace and a restful sleep.....also a lot of biking with those crazy angel chicks in heaven!!! Rest In Peace Lance.❤❤
