Boise, Idaho - Lena Mae Johnsen was born in Newport, WA on April 22, 1927. She graduated from Mansfield High School, where she was valedictorian of her class. She attended Graceland College, in Lamoni, IA, where she met the love of her life Harry A. Dennis. They were married on July 7, 1948 & lived in Lamoni for years, until moving to Parkville, MO. In 1981 they retired & moved to Boise, ID to be near their family. Lena was Foreign Student Advisor at Park College, where she formed many lasting bonds with students from around the World. Harry & Lena were lifelong members of the Community of Christ Church - dedicating many hours to helping disenfranchised people. They traveled widely and touched many lives wherever they went. Lena was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry, parents Louis & Frela Johnsen, as well as her siblings Betty Jenkins, Dale Johnsen and Leonard Johnsen. She is survived by her son Terry Dennis (& Lisa McMillin) and daughter DiAnn Dennis. Surviving grandchildren: Adam Fishwild and partner Bailee McDaid, Erin Dennis, Sean Dennis and wife Tara; three great-grandchildren: Zaida Thompson, Olivia Dennis and Maya Dennis. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest treasures in her last years. Her nieces and nephews Thom & Liz Jenkins, Steve & Janie Jenkins, Jan & Terry Hornick, & Luana & Ron Gavin gave her many moments of joy on the visits from WA. Lena passed peacefully in her apartment at Grace Memory Care on State St. - she considered the wonderful staff there as extended family...We will miss her always.
