Lena Kidd

Lena "Muma" Kidd June 3, 1923 - October 2, 2012 Lena Aurelia (Uranga) Kidd passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 of natural causes at 89 years old. Lena was born on June 3, 1923 in Boise, Idaho to Antone Uranga and Maria Sabala Uranga. She attended St. Theresa's Academy from grades 1-12 and graduated in 1940. Lena entered into Nursing School in 1941, and graduated in 1944. She worked in Dr. Ward's office and as a scrub nurse for three doctors. In 1946 Lena went to Sacred Heart School of Anesthesia in Spokane, Washington and graduated in 1947. On November 28, 1947 Lena married Murray A. Kidd. They moved to Mountain Home in 1953 where Lena worked at Elmore Memorial Hospital for 25 years and had three children; John, Christy, and Bruce. Lena and Murray moved back to Boise in 1973 to retire. Lena was proud of her accomplishments at work but truly treasured time with family - especially family dinners. Lena was an avid reader and traveler. She traveled the world with Murray and always made a point to visit her grandchildren at college. Lena was a big advocate for education and supported her children and grandchildren to work towards their dreams and goals. She was known for her laid-back attitude, strong work ethic, and love for people and life. Lena is survived by her children; Christy (Jerry) Aldape, and Bruce (Sandy) Kidd; her grandchildren, James (Kate) Kidd, Mike (Katie) Aldape, Dani (Jim) Stewart, Marcie Aldape, and Liz (Kal) Bailey; her great grandchildren, Mikhail and Autumn Kidd, Amaia Compton, Nick and Lina Aldape, James, Piper and Cannon Stewart, and Dylan Bailey. Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Kidd, her son, John Kidd, and was the last of her 10 siblings to pass on. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road in Boise, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at St. John's Cathedral, 775 N. 8th St. in Boise. Interment will follow the mass at Morris Hill Cemetery, 317 N. Latah in Boise. A reception will be held following the interment at the Basque Center, 611 Grove St. in Boise. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to The Downtown YMCA's Murray Kidd Foundation or to The Bishop Kelly Foundation.
