Lewis Gruber Obituary

Lewis M. Gruber
1925 ~ 2012
Lewis M. Gruber, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 17, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family. Lewis was born in Meridian, Idaho. Upon graduation in 1943, he joined the Army Air Corp. After receiving an honorable discharge, Lewis became a commercial airline pilot, which he considered a dream come true. He flew for 33 years. His career began in Boise, Idaho flying DC3s and retired as Captain of the Boeing 727.
He was very proud of the fact that his son followed in his footsteps as a pilot.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Angela Subia Gruber; son, Bruce Gruber; daughter in law, Alice Gruber; granddaughter, Allison Gruber; brothers, Robert and Dwight Gruber; sister, Charlotte Ruscher; and numerous relatives, nieces and nephews.
A special Thanks to the staff and hospice of St. Luke's for their kind and compassionate care and his nurse, Carl Appel, of Bright Star who stood by us through some very difficult, sad times.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on State Street. Burial will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's School Fund or St. Mary's food bank.
