Linda Brown Obituary

Linda K. Brown

July 26, 1947 - July 27, 2024

Fruitland, Idaho - Linda Kay Brown was born on July 26, 1947 in Caldwell, Idaho to Frank and Lois Mercer.

Linda was raised in Wilder, Idaho with her sister, Janice (Parker, Colorado), and brother, Mike (Willis, Texas)where she attended school until graduating from Caldwell High School in 1965.

In January 1967, Linda married the love of her life, Gary Brown, and they enjoyed more than 57 years of happy marriage. They grew up together and were partners in love, life and building a family.

Gary and Linda settled in Fruitland, Idaho in 1968 to build a family and together they raised two boys, Chris Brown (Highland Heights, Ohio) and Greg Brown (Mercer Island, Washington), who have built beautiful families that include six grandchildren: Audrey, Olivia, Franklin (Chris), Madeline, Isabella and Alexander (Greg).

Linda and Gary split their time in retirement between their home in Fruitland and Mesa, Arizona, where they enjoyed sun and fun and developed many close friendships over the last 18 years.

Linda was full of energy and had many hobbies and was always open to learning new ones. She was an avid golfer and loved to play with friends and family in Idaho and Arizona. She got her second hole-in-one just a week before she passed away. She loved a good game of pickleball and was known to beat many people half her age. She used her artistic talent to make stained glass artwork and also loved music and played guitar. She was a voracious reader and would finish books at an impressive pace.

Linda was a ray of light and laughter and made friends everywhere she went. She had an incredible sense of humor and was quick witted with a big heart and a contagious smile. She made new friends throughout her life and treasured lifelong friendships.

Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lois Mercer, Linda leaves behind a loving family: her husband Gary, sons Chris and Greg, daughters-in-law Corinna and Erika, six cherished grandchildren and her sister Janice and brother Mike.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 2nd at 4:00pm at the Payette United Methodist Church, 502 N 11th Street, Payette, Idaho 83661.

It was a blessing to know Linda and to play golf with her at Scotch Pines. She was always positive & supportive when I was discouraged about my level of play! Her sense of humor was contagious, and I have wonderful memories of her. She will be sorely missed by her loving family and her multitude of friends.

I worked with Linda at UPS for many years. Linda was always upbeat and a joy to work with. She will surely be missed.

Linda was a great friend. She was so intelligent that her humor was exceptionally clever and we had the best time while playing golf together, and laughed most of the way through the round. I am lucky enough to have one of her stained glass works of art, which I cherish. Linda often donated her stained glass creations for our golf course fundraisers and people always purchased numerous raffle tickets in an attempt to win one.

It was wonderful to know a couple truly in love, as Linda and Gary were. We will miss Linda and her beautiful smile and kind, generous heart. She is leaving a huge hole in our ladies golf league and especially in our hearts.

Our thoughts and prayers to Gary and Family.

Every encounter with Linda -- usually at Gary's class reunions-- we knew we had spent time with one of the kindest and most[ gracious people on the planet. We were enriched by being with her.
Linda was very special and Linda and agary were special together.
Please know we care. Very much

Linda was the absolute sweetest lady. I have fond memories of going trick-or-treating at her house and having the best time hanging out with her. She will be dearly missed
