Mary Leonard Obituary

Mary Lou (Louise) Leonard of Boise died September 28, 2025. Mary Lou was born August 27, 1926 in Carey, Idaho-the closest hospital to Bellevue where she grew up. Her parents were Dr. Charles Harold Dresser and Willomine Newbry Dresser.

She moved to Boise her senior year and graduated from Boise High School. Mary Lou met her future husband, Guy Leonard, from West Virginia at a military dance hosted at Gowen Field. They married in 1947 after Guy came home from serving in World War II. The couple remained in Boise where Guy worked 31 years for Idaho Power Company as a civil engineer. They raised their three children and pets in an "Andy of Mayberry" neighborhood.

Besides being an awesome homemaker, Mary Lou enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing bridge and traveling. The two of them enjoyed many friends and social activities including the Officer's Club, Daughters of the Nile, and the Shriners Club. Mary Lou loved to sing in different choirs such as the Idaho Power Choral Electrics, The Madrigals, and the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her children Roxanna Jones (Rick), Nita Cain (Dennis), and Mike Leonard (Suzanne), 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring. Her love of life, her humor, and compassion will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a favorite charity.

I remember Mary and Guy when I was a little kid back in the 60's! My mom and dad were very good friends.
RIP Mary. Love you!
