Michael Domecq Obituary

Michael Ray Domecq
1958-2016
Michael Ray Domecq was born January 4, 1958 to Alvin and Jeanette Domecq in Denair, CA. After graduating high school in 1976, Mike left Denair for Boise to pursue his lifetime career in the plumbing industry. He chose the Boise area, while on a deer hunting trip with his buddies when he was a senior in high school.
After several years in the Boise area, Mike moved to Cascade Idaho where he opened Domick's Plumbing & Heating. Mike, with his ever present sense of humor misspelled his last name, for his customers' ease in pronunciation. Economic times forced Mike to relocate to Salt Lake City to join the firm of PHE Mechanical in which he eventually bought the ownership interest. He sold the business and retired at the age of 56 to return to beautiful Idaho.
Salt Lake City introduced other changes in his life when he met his wife Cindy. They married, raised her five children, and together they had McKaylee Jeanette born April 30, 2002.
Always the avid outdoorsman, passionate about hunting, fishing and the great outdoors, Mike, Cindy and McKaylee, were often found traveling in their motor home to the next great adventure. Whether Hells Canyon, Maui, or Nascar in Las Vegas there was always good fun, great food and lots of laughter.
Two items on Mike's bucket list, were accomplished when he recently chartered a jet and played golf on the coast of California in Carmel in early September.
After a two and half year battle with pancreatic cancer, Mike succumbed to the disease, surrounded by his loving wife Cindy, McKaylee and his sister Corinne.
Cindy and family would like to express their gratitude to St. Luke Hospice Care, for their kind and compassionate care.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Jeanette Domecq, his grandparents Louis and Adeline Domecq and Carl and Dorothy Swanson.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia, his daughter McKaylee Domecq. Children Christy (Neil) Whalen, Karen (Rob) Solomon, Trev (Kallin) King, Jessica (Danny) Christensen, Jake, Chelsey and Brady King. His sister Corinne Koftinow and nephews Christopher and Evan Koftinow and grandchildren Brody and Fisher Wahlen and Brayden and Madison Solomon.
Services to be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Boise, ID with viewing beginning at 8:30 am and services at 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest a donation to the Bishop Kelly Foundation Scholarship Fund, www.bishopkellyfoundation.org, or St. Luke Hospice Care. We are so sorry to lose Mike. We have so many fun memories spent with Mike & Cindy - Nascar, parties, BBQs, Cabo, and many more. He will be greatly missed, along with his great smile and sense of humor.

Mike was the most awesome man! I loved his laugh and sense of humor and the fact that what you saw, is what he was. No pretense, just an amazing, funny, and talented man.

My thoughts are with the family at this time of great loss. I think of his love for his daughter, McKaylee, and how much he adored everything about her and it makes me smile. He always had lots of bragging stories about her.

Rest in peace, my friend.

I first met Mike in Cascade. He was never without a smile and loads of laughter. A number of years had passed before I again had the pleasure of seeing Mike in Eagle and Nampa, ID. Nothing had changed, the room brightened up because he was there, laughing as always. A truly great guy.
