Michael Laky

Michael Edward Laky 1931-2012 Michael Edward Laky of Boise passed away on August 8, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, September 29, 1931, to Leopold and Julia Laky. Michael enlisted in the Air Force at an early age and retired as a Master Sergeant in1969 after 21 years of service. Subsequently, he was a manager for Sunset Sports Centers in Idaho, a deputy sheriff in Canyon County, owned his own auto repair business in Boise, and he was employed by the Ada County Sheriff's Office managing and servicing its fleet until his retirement in 1998. Mike had a keen sense of humor that touched all who knew him. He was truly "Mr. Fixit" to his family and friends, always there to lend a helping hand no matter what the task. He loved computers and electronics. He adored his family and relished flying model airplanes with his son Michael, fishing with his daughters JoEllen and Julia and playing with his dog Seiko. His grandchildren, Devin, Philip and Gregory, were the apple of his eye. But most of all, his heart belonged to the woman of his dreams, Georgia. Mike and Georgia were married 59 years. Mike is survived by his wife, Georgia, his son Michael and his wife Linda and their daughter Devin; his daughter JoEllen Yribar and her husband Phil and their son Philip; his daughter Julia Casey and her husband Greg and their son Gregory. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 7960 Northview in Boise, followed by a reception. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise.
