Paul Bishop Obituary

Paul Robert Bishop Paul Robert Bishop, 72, passed from us peacefully in the early morning hours of Sept. 27, 2008 in his home in Kuna, Idaho. Paul was a proud fifth-generation Californian who grew up in rural Loma Rica, Calif. on an olive ranch where his father farmed. He was amazed to see that there were so many other kids in the world when he started his education in a two-room school house down the road. His family moved to Marysville, Calif. when he was in high school, enjoying all of the opportunities of the "big city". Soon after, he joined the Army and was stationed in Georgia and Germany. He later graduated from San Jose State University and worked as a history teacher, social worker and finally spent most of his career as the supervising probation officer in Sutter County, Calif. He married Mary Perkins in a tiny Episcopal Church in Tahoe City in 1961. He and Mary enjoyed 46 years together until his death. He spent his last years in Kuna, Idaho to be near his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. He was a dedicated father to his children, Liz Allen and Bill Bishop and spent countless hours enjoying the outdoors with them as they grew up. Paul is survived by his wife Mary Bishop, mother Mary Dugan, sister Susan Phelan, daughter Liz Allen (Gary), son Bill Bishop (Helen), five grandchildren and many good friends. He was deeply grateful for his time on earth with friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Four Rivers Hospice in Boise, Idaho. Committal services with military honors will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor, Garden City.
